Hearing Wrong, Doing Wrong

The application of the Scriptures in our lives is the goal of everyone who has been born-again. The truth of this rests in many places in the Scriptures, James 1:22 being just one of them. “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”

Here is perhaps the greatest recognition of another truth that must come to bear in our lives, “and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;” (Col. 1:9b)

Many who call themselves religious, many who profess to serve the Risen Savior are well versed in the Scriptures, but because they do not diligently seek for the wisdom offered by the Almighty, because a heartfelt desire does not burn within them for Spiritual discernment, they become doers of what they believe the Word of God says, and not the truths of it.

You must read the Scriptures in and by the same Spirit that first revealed them, for if you do not, you will seek out men to test the Spirit by. This is the foundation of religious cults, of works-based organizations, of those who need to see and refuse to believe that the just shall live by faith.

“But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.” (Matt. 15:9)

The Almighty has left no gaps, no gaping voids in His Word, it is open to interpretation only by those who do not possess that wisdom and Spiritual discernment, and thereby instead of accepting His truths, they form opinions. This truth is verified by not only all those different denominations you may drive by each day, but every religion that exists on this planet that will not profess the inerrancy of the Scriptures.

There are those that still believe that speaking in tongues is a requirement of the proof of salvation, that the Most High Himself can be dragged out of heaven and placed into a wafer, who stand by the lie that if one is not baptized, hell awaits.

“Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?” (1st Cor. 1:13)

Times change and men change with them.

“The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.” (Isaiah 40:8)

The plan of Satan has never changed, disrupt and attempt to deceive, even destroy, if possible, the church and before the church, those of the faith of Abraham, he did so in this respect in the garden of Eden, and he is still doing so today.

You are not a doer of the Word my friends if you are hearing the words of God incorrectly.

In this regard, we need to follow what I will call the consensus of godly men who came before us, who received wisdom and Spiritual discernment, who were taught by the Holy Spirit how to rightly divide the word of truth. Not every step of theirs is to be followed, for they were themselves only men, but those men followed the Lord to the loss of all else, solely for His glory.

From the man I met a few weeks ago who believed by reading nothing but the Scriptures, that believed his view on them was absolute, to the one I met today who would not believe that women are not allowed to be pastors, to one many years ago that claimed Christians should not wear anything that had the color purple in it, they are hearing incorrectly, and thereby are not doing as the Scriptures command.

Thus saith the Lord. Period.

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” (Romans 12:2)

The question is, is that transforming that is being applied within you in accordance to the will and Word of God, or your opinions of what His Word says?

Every time you open His Holy Book, tremble, read it in fear, for misinterpretations do not exist within it, but they might within you.

There are several items I would ask you to consider before you click on the Donate button.

1.    Please pray carefully about donating; “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” (2nd Cor. 9:7)

2.    Your first responsibility is to the Lord; “Honor the LORD with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase”: (Prov. 3:9)

3.    You must consider your family after your first responsibility; “But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” (1st Tim. 5:8)

4.    If you determine that you have been blessed by this ministry and decide to donate, please know this, your donations will be accepted with great thanks, and all the glory will go to God.
