Through That Dark Glass
“For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day. But they understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him.” (Mark 9:31-32) I really do not know just how much clearer than that our Lord could have said those words. I have no idea why they were afraid to ask Him for at least some form of clarification, if nothing else, at the very least, one of them could have said, “Who is this Son of Man you speak of?” There are two scenarios that many have envisioned about these particular verses. The first is that those present with Him that day were not very bright people, lacking any real capable deductive reasoning skills, just simple folk. The second group believes,

It Seems Necessary
We who are hid in Christ do not need physical, historical proof that would validate the Word of God, it is not necessary for us to see any prophecy of the Scriptures fulfilled. Our faith does not need prayers to be answered, we do not need to be healed when we are sick, our faith in our Risen Savior is not hindered anymore in the storm than it is when He places us in that dry and thirsty land. “Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.” (John 20:29) There is something that is going to happen to you in heaven, and may have already happened to some, if not all, who are already there. I have no Scriptural proof of this whatsoever, so much of the following is nothing more than conjecture on

“Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?” (Matt. 6:25) Have you noticed how many poor people there seems to have been in the days our Lord walked this earth? Perhaps it was no more or less proportional than there ever has been, but to have five thousand people in one group who either did not have the forethought to bring along some food, or did not have the wherewithal to do so, seems to say that many were not just poor, they were basically destitute of even daily needs. But in relation to the context of these verses, I ask you this. When was the last time you can recall that you were not only

Faith Must Prevail
Only the events necessary for salvation, those accounts that reveal the glory and majesty of the Living God, that reveal clearly His design for mankind and the path we are to walk. What is required of us, what is commanded of us, as well as the desire of the Almighty for every soul that belongs to Him. How the acceptance of the Lord Jesus Christ leads to eternal life, and the denial of Him leads to eternal death and damnation. Everything that we need to know about God is found in His Holy Word. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” (2nd Tim. 3:16) Not everything in His book though makes sense to us, some of it seems downright foolish and against all reason, and that human reasoning my friends is the mortal enemy.
