“But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” (Heb. 5:14)
I have no difficulty expounding upon the Scriptures in the amount of truth that I have been blessed to receive to the weaker brother, to the one who is still in the milk of the Word, the one who thirsts and hungers for more of those truths. In fact, it is a pleasure, a great joy and privilege, and it is humbling to be able to serve in such a way.
I do have great difficulty and many frustrations though when speaking to those who have believed a lie, and when the truths of the Word of God are revealed to them, they not only refuse to accept them as such, but remain adamant to that lie and lost in it.
In these instances, the truth of Galatians 4:16 must be accepted by you, and you must leave them where they are. “Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?”
It is the Holy Spirit that reveals the truths of the Scriptures to us, it takes diligent research and much prayer, and fervent desire to see the Almighty exalted above the heavens to accept these truths, for initially they also were foreign to us. Context in the Scriptures is not only vitally important my friends, it is required, and here is where many step off the path, out of context, and the Words of God become nothing less than our personal opinions.
The Living God is who He is, not what we want Him to be.
“As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.” (2nd Peter 3:16)
I am going to guess that before Peter died, those things were perfectly understood by him.
As many different denominations of churches there are is how many different opinions there are about who God is, and here Matthew 22:14 comes to mind.
“For many are called, but few are chosen.”
Those who believe a lie in the foundational truths of the Word of God are not saved, those who misinterpret truths aside from those salvational issues are generally replacing those truths with either their opinions, an incorrect interpretation of the Scriptures in context, or have determined to place traditions above those truths.
What I would consider the last Evangelical church in our area has fallen into this subtle trap mentioned, and it has been sad to see it happen. When traditions take the place of the Scriptures, when an assembly of folks who serve the Lord begin to take those truths of the Almighty and transform them to their own liking, when they join hand in hand with the cults and call it a “local interfaith group,” then they have invited the spots and blemishes into their congregation, and the truths of this when you offer it to them, will cause not only great frustrations within you, but will cause them to hate you.
“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.” (Gal. 1:8)
Have those in that assembly who have been truly born-again lost their salvation? Of course not. Are they on the path of losing rewards? Possibly. But our adversary is subtle, and pastors can be blinded by how many are sitting in the pews and miss the truth that they have begun to do little more than scratch those itchy ears.
“If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:3)
That verse implies that at one time there was a strong foundation, but now, wood, hay and stubble have become the building materials.
Pray diligently and constantly without ceasing for the truths of the Scriptures, in context will be revealed to you, for 2nd Timothy 3:13 is not just a verse in these days for the wicked.
“But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.”
