“And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.” (Rev. 14:3)
If it were possible to take an accurate poll in the land of Israel, or at least of the children of Isaac, “Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.” (Romans 9:7) of the young men who are virgins, and it was found there were 144,000 of them, how would it change your walk with Christ?
When you see wars and rumors of wars, earthquakes in various places, the one world government becoming a reality, how does it change or modify your life for the glory of God? Were you not witnessing to the lost before all these events became visible, were you not searching for them, praising His name no matter the circumstances of the world or those in your life? Have your prayers been altered, are you worshipping the Living God differently, is your zeal to be profitable for His glory greater because of the fact of the end of the time of grace?
“And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.” (Gen. 6:3) I wonder, did Noah keep a calendar, as the Ark was almost finished, did he spend more fervent effort attempting to convince the people that time was almost up, or did he stick to the task that had been laid before him over a century before?
The more a person gets “caught up in the moment” the greater the effort, but if that moment tarries, doubts begin to formulate in the mind, and that zeal can and usually does begin to abate. Almost like a drunk or a junkie, they search everywhere for that “next new sign” and will see them where they are not, their imaginations begin to control them, not the truth, and just like the one who needs that next drink, they forget all else, they forget the lost amongst the wicked, they forget they are to be the light of the world spreading the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and become nothing more than continuous harbingers of doom.
The knowledge of these days of the beginnings of sorrows is not to replace what we were initially sent to do but are to be an addition to them. It does no good whatsoever to inform people of what is approaching if one does not tell them of the way of escape, the watchman on the wall does not only sound the warning but prepares the people to act when the evil approaches.
If you have been born again you do not need any more signs of this end of the age, you need to do what you were sent to do in the first place, what you were commanded to do the moment you got up off your knees at the cross. You have been sent to preach Jesus Christ and Him crucified and risen for the salvation of all who will believe on Him, adding, when necessary, those signs that have been revealed to you of these days, not just to warn of the impending Rapture and Tribulation period.
This fixation that many have fallen prey to has drawn them away from the purpose they were sent to accomplish and is leading them down the path of self-preservation, not loving their neighbor, not seeking for the lost, not lifting up the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to the glory of God. Warn them, yes of course, not only of the days that are approaching, but of an eternity of suffering and sorrow if they do not call upon His name.
