Be That Person

How many people actually keep their word, what percentage of individuals actually follow through with what they say they are going to do. I know for a fact that the failure rate is at one hundred percent on occasion, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” (Romans 3:23) but when we give our word to someone about something, and we do not fulfill that promise, have we sinned.

Character and integrity are to be the mainstream of a man, in other words, where we would always expect to find that man, in the middle of the river, never to close to either bank, his flow is predictable, for when he gives his word, that word is kept. There can be at times extenuating circumstances, unforeseen events that make the bond unfillable, those can be forgiven, but when a man of character and integrity gives his word, he does not turn to the right or to the left, (Prov. 4:27) he will fulfill what he has promised. So then, why do we have a planet full of lawyers, why are there promissory notes, why is there a line on the bottom of every single contract in whatever form for whatever reason one can possibly think of?

Because people do not trust people, because enough of them have given their word and not fulfilled their vow, for that is what our word is to be, a vow, a promise, a bond. “But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.” (James 5:12)

There was a time not so long ago that when people were asked to give their testimony in a court of proceedings that it was necessary for them to place their hand upon the Word of God, upon the Bible. Men still believed that if they spoke a lie, if they were dishonest in what they said, that the Almighty would punish them in whatever way He saw fit, and what did Job’s wife say? “Curse God, and die.” (Job 2:9) We do not live in the midst of a people who have character and integrity, we no longer fear God, and when one commits an act against one, all must be made to suffer.

This is in part, part of the reasons for the lockdowns, when one among even millions are found to have the new strain of the flu, all must suffer, all must be punished, though of course it is not represented as such, it is of course, as they continuously like to repeat, for our safety, for the good of all. It is why you have signed your name on that bottom line so many times in your life, it is why we no longer place our hand on the Scriptures and “Swear to tell the truth,” because there are few men anymore with character and integrity. And we as a people have done all we possibly can to ensure that is stays that way, smear campaigns, spin doctors, bringing up parts of a person’s past from decades ago to drag through the mud those who are not who they once were all those decades ago. There is very little problem these days in finding someone willing to cast the first stone.

Men of character and integrity are dangerous, they stand for the truth and cannot be moved, the darkness hates them, for they shine the light upon their evil deeds, and instead of fleeing into the light, they attempt to cover that light with darkness, they will do all they can to besmirch the character of the one in the light, of the one who is showing the light of truth to all that will hear. Men of God are to be men of character and integrity, they are to stand, no matter the personal cost to themselves, they are to be the light of this world, (Matt. 5:14) and they are never to sway from the task that has been set before them. The world lies in darkness, (1 John 5:19) and it is going to become pitch black very soon, some are still searching for the light, be the person that is willing to show the true light to them.

Yes, I have. But should it be the exception, or the rule? Are we not to stand, will those in the near future not love their lives to the end, are we not to expect persecution, and look forward to the moment of our death, for in the next moment we will be in the presence of the Lord? Pray to be this convicted all the time Stanley, so that it does not surprise you when others are.
