“So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.” (Romans 14:12)
What you did in this life, and why you did it, what you did not do, and why you did not do it.
“Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.” (Heb. 4:13)
You must realize this truth, this will not be a large gathering, this is just you and the Living God, He is going to ask you questions, you will be required to answer those questions, and He will already know not only the reasonings that you will offer for your actions or inactions, but the words you will say.
This moment in your life is not for His benefit my friends, but for yours, and the time to contemplate not only what those questions He will ask of you will be, and your answers to them is not then, but today.
“My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?” (Psalm 42:2)
I personally believe, and I think the Scriptures will attest to this, that the order of events is as follows. This life and then death, raptured or not has no bearing on the order, then our accounting, glorification and then rewards and crowns, if so earned.
When we are glorified, the transforming of our minds will be complete, we will finally know as we are known, if we were to give our account in that final state of the removal of our sinful nature, our answers to His questions would be concise and to the point, without reservations or hesitations. That part of us that resists the will of God, that hinders the Holy Spirit, and each of us who have been born-again knows full well that describes a part of us in this life, must be present when we give our account, and it will be his last chance to offer excuses, and the glorified person will know without a doubt the reasons for their actions or inactions in this life.
It will be the last moment of the flesh that serves the law of sin.
“And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.” (Exo. 33:20)
When we stand before Him for the first time in person, as it were, we will not be standing in the presence of the fullness of the Almighty’s holiness, for only those who have been glorified can be permitted to do so, yet that account must be given, for lack of a better phrase, by both of our natures, the mind that serves Christ and the old sinful nature that has attempted to stand against not only us, but the will of the Almighty for us as well.
Here my friends, if you will envision it and face yourself, is how you can interpret your true relationship to Him who shed His blood for you.
Do you see yourself in a prone position, flat on your face, trembling at His questions, fearful beyond anything that you have ever known, frightened by His every word, terrified to give your answers?
Or do you see the beautiful face of our Savior sitting beside you next to the still waters, smiling at you, a love emanating from Him for you that you never thought possible?
We will all give an account, the question for you is this, do you fear that moment, or do you anticipate it with great joy?
I personally believe that for each of us it will be a different scenario for we each have a personal relationship with Him, and He knows each of us personally. A simple moment in time barely recognizable to you, or an intense pain, the very last pain, as your old man, your sinful nature is ripped from you and cast away forever?
Does it matter?
Contemplate these words often, for this day, if you have indeed been crucified with Christ, will arrive. Here and now today, and then, there and then in eternity, this one moment will change everything for all of time for you.
