“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.” (Isaiah 55:8)
We need to stop trying to think like God, it is impossible to do, and only the pride that lives within us would attempt to do so. Being obedient to the Word and will of God is the first step to trusting in Him, no one obeys any one unless it is by force that does not first trust that person, you may include your employment choice in that first clause, for we all must work to eat and provide for our family, it is because of the curse placed upon Adam forced upon us.
I do not offer here the mind of God, no man can do that, but I do offer known facts that can be validated in the Word of God, and many if not most of you who read this short letter will not like what you read.
The Most High is Sovereign over all of His creation, He is Omniscient, meaning that He knows everything about everything, and He is Omnipresent, meaning He is everywhere all the time. The Lord is not bound by His creation of time, from eternity past to eternity to come, He is there, He lives in an ever present now. “According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love.” (Eph. 1:4)
Here is where we begin to walk the path that many do not like to contemplate, for it does not place the Almighty in a light that they want to see Him in, nevertheless, what you have read here so far is truth, and the following words, no matter how difficult to hear, are also truth. God knew long before He created the heavens and the earth where you would spend eternity, either in the glory of His presence in the Kingdom of heaven, or in the fires of eternal damnation, this is an undeniable truth. “For with God nothing shall be impossible.” (Luke 1:37) I place this before you, why since 2 Peter 3:9 is true, “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” has God allowed souls to be created that He knew would not come to Him in repentance for their sins, that He knew would suffer incomprehensible anguish, pain and suffering throughout all of eternity with no hope of reprieve, why did He allow them to be born?
If it does not please the Lord that any should perish, does He place them in that eternal fire against His will, with great sorrow, wishing, as it were, that He did not have to do so?
“What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction.” (Romans 9:22) Before the Lord created Lucifer, He knew what he would do, before He formed Adam from the dust of the earth, He knew what he would do, He knew all there is to ever know, and yet He still created. These are hard words and prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that God alone is Sovereign in His creation, He can do as He pleases, and He never goes against His will.
He has allowed by His own design, by His own will, and for His own glory the age of man, all the love expressed, all the hatred and strife, all the beauty and horrors, He has allowed, and He knew before He said, “Let there be light,” (Gen. 1:3) what would happen.
Would you blame God for making men to be placed in hell? Would you blame Him for making those who will be in heaven?
Would you say He has no choice in the matter while at the same time saying He is all-powerful? Does the free will of mankind hinder the Sovereign power of the Most High to act as He would desire?
It is impossible for anyone to think as God does. Here then is a final truth for you, you have free will to choose today who you will serve, yourself or God, this fact is undeniable in our minds. Here though is also a truth, God is Sovereign over all of His creation. I leave you to contemplate these two seemingly undeniable yet in our feeble minds contradictory truths. To those who are born-again that are reading this poorly written letter, I ask this question in light of these truths, did you choose God, or did He choose you?
