“But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out.” (Numb. 32:23)
Even in the Millennial Period, even with the Lord Jesus Christ ruling with a rod of iron, visible for all to see, there will be sin, and the punishment for sin will be swift.
The sin of the wicked of this world goes mostly unpunished, laws are enacted but rarely followed through with and many crimes receive little to no punishment anymore, and the more financial wherewithal one has, the higher the standing a person has in the community, the punishments are rarely enforced at all.
“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” (Matt. 5:6)
Now let us turn our thoughts to ourselves, those who are hid in Christ, we know and understand 1st John 1:9 full well.
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
We know we are forgiven, that our sins are as far from the thoughts of our Father in heaven as the east is from the west, for we are the righteousness of God in Christ. We are not perfect, but saved, born-again. But what are we to do about the sins of those in the world around us, what is our responsibility when it comes to the ways of the wicked of this world, and even more so when we have revealed the truths of the Scriptures to them, and they refuse those truths vehemently?
It is one thing to no longer cast the pearls of the Living God before swine, to not associate with them, to neither let them in our house or bid them godspeed, but what actions toward sin are we to take on behalf of the Almighty, what are we to do, if anything?
Prayer of course comes to mind, which is in itself perhaps the strongest form of action, but is that it? Are we to put placards in our yard with Scripture verses, rent billboards along the highway that reveal those sins and offer the truths of the will of God? Should we join protest marches, put bumper stickers on our vehicles, wear t-shirts with certain words upon them?
“Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate:” (Amos 5:15a)
Can one hate evil and not stand against it? If we see something, are we to say something, or are verses such as Proverbs 14:7 to be our standard.
“Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.”
How much involvement against the wicked ways, the wicked people of this planet are we to have, and when are we to adhere to Matthew 5:14.
“Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.”
I can offer you only this, the Lord Jesus Christ did not go about searching for the Scribes and Pharisees to chastise them, they came to Him, but when they did, in our own vernacular of today my friends, He did not hold back, He gave it to them with both barrels.
“My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change:” (Prov. 24:21)
It’s the only answer I have for you today, when evil, when sin exemplified, when the wicked place themselves in front of you, you are expected to stand your ground, and your ground is upon the Rock of your salvation. But if you decide to go out looking for it, the only thing I can say is that you had best be positive that it is the Holy Spirit leading you to do so.
We are the chosen, we have the Word of God hidden in our hearts, we are led and empowered by the Holy Spirit, but we are not mercenaries, we do not go looking for trouble, for the wicked, but we do not back down when it darkens our path.
“Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” (Eph. 6:13)
That is these days my friends.
Prepare your hearts accordingly, prepare to stand when you feel like running, when fear attempts to quiet you. One of those wicked ones may turn out to be one of the lost.
