What Will You Do?

Where will you be when he is released?

“And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.” (Rev. 20:3)

The question is not so much where you will be, not what we will be asked to do not only at that time and afterward until Satan, hell and death are cast into the Lake of Fire, not even so much what your responsibility, your job title if you like, in the Millennial period will be, but what are you supposed to be doing against evil today?

Two verses that are not contradictory, for there are no contradictions in the Scriptures, but complementary, meant for contemplation. The first then, “Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?” (Psalm 94:16)

And the second, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” (Eph. 6:12)

How are we to stand against iniquity which is in mankind, yet not wrestle against flesh and blood? What of that spiritual darkness in high places? How are we to stand against evil?

I believe most who call themselves by the name “Christian” believe this battle against evil is fought only in their soul, supposing that old man, our sinful nature to be within itself evil, and in part this may be correct, for Romans 7:18 stands as a truth. “For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.” and when we are glorified that part of us will be gone forever, praise God. But that is not the context of that verse in its entirety, for recall how it starts, we wrestle not against flesh and blood.

I would presume it speaks of Satanic forces in part and is the reason we are to keep our armor on continuously, but there is that last part, in high places. Those in the highest forms of authority, men who may indeed be controlled by devils, just as in the days of Christ. How are we to wrestle with them is given to us, the sword of the Spirit, the Word of truth. “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Heb. 4:12)

There is no other defense against the wiles and darts of our adversary, you have no power over him whatsoever. Michael would not contend with him, you would be foolish to try, he will only flee from you when you resist him and then only with the Words of the Scriptures. But what of those workers of iniquity, how are we to stand against wicked, sinful men who hate the name of the Lord, who despise His Holy name, what is our recourse?

I am not going to answer these questions for you, only give examples, you must determine in your heart what to do in the moment if the Almighty decides you are to be in that moment. I ask that you do not think what you should do, but what you believe to be pleasing and honorable in the sight of the Lord.

“But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.” (Matt. 24:43)

The example then: An evil man breaks into your home, and his threats are real, he will kill those you love and then you if you do not give him what he wants, in fact, even if you do, he is still going to kill all of you. You are armed with a weapon, what will you do?

“So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.” (Romans 14:12)

My friends, believe it or not it is easier at times to stand against Satan, whether it be temptations or darts, we have the armor given to us by the Almighty. That armor will not do you much good, and I mean this in no offense, if that wicked man decides to start shooting your family. “Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” (Eph. 5:16)

It would be wise of you to contemplate this.
