“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” (Isaiah 5:20)
I would ask you to look closely at that verse and ask yourself this question, do most of the people you know that do not serve the Lord Jesus Christ believe that the evil that is rampant across the planet is a good thing, do they see it as profitable for society?
No, probably not.
There are fringe groups, such as the sodomites who are somewhat prolific, but when compared to the almost eight billion people on this planet, their numbers are miniscule at best.
Nearly all of Romans eight speaks of how we are to be subject to the authorities placed over us, but again, contemplate the opening verse in this short letter to you, who is it that is not only calling evil good, but is willfully and with intent bringing that evil to bear, who is denouncing what is good and calling it evil, racist and bigoted. Who is it that is persecuting those who say, “That is evil, not good!”
“For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:” (Col. 1:16)
But consider Ephesians 6:12, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
If those who are bringing this evil into the world are indeed of mankind, are we to be subject to them when they do so?
“Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?” (Psalm 94:16)
I do not often care to broach these types of topics in these letters, for they can bring not only doubts towards the truth that there are no contradictions in the Scriptures, but they can cause the weaker brother to stumble, and that is never my intention.
Are those in authority that are bringing these blatant evils into the world possessed by devils or are they sinful men full of pride and vanity attempting to gain the whole world. If we do not fight against flesh and blood, then how are we to stand when they call us evil for standing for what even the lost recognize as good?
Our armor is meant to protect us from the wiles of the devil, yet the devil uses wicked men for his purposes, if we stand against them, we are standing against Satan. If we were not to do so, then Abraham would not have gone to fight against the Five Kings, David would not have withstood the Philistines, Haman would have had his desires upon the children of Israel.
The fear of the Lord is reverential trust and a hatred of evil, love is always our first response, but if they will not accept the love of the Lord offered to them, then you must prepare for battle.
The Word of God, the sword of the Spirit is our weapon, yet words alone will not stop all evil my friends. I am not saying you should arm yourself for the battle, but I will offer you this verse. “But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.” (Matt. 24:43)
That goodman, as those in the days of Nehemiah, did not only arm himself with words of truth, but with a sword, a weapon.
Here is one of those rare occurrences where this saying is truth, “That is between you and God.”
The goodman, the man of God stands against the evil, and he must do so as the Almighty leads him to. The darkness is growing, men are the tools that Satan is using to bring that darkness, and men of God who serve the Living God are the only thing standing against him, and those men that are nothing more than disposable tools to our adversary.
Principalities and powers, evil men serving unrighteousness, the weapon you are to use to thwart their desires the Almighty will supply, you must train yourself how to use them.
