Twenty years. Can you continue on this path for twenty years, day after day, continuously saying to all who will listen, “The end is near, Jesus is coming for His church?”
More than twenty years Jeremiah warned the people, and he had no specific date either, yet he did not falter, he did not stop.
I believe that most of you who think that the Lord’s return is imminent, meaning today, maybe next week, those of you who keep setting dates based on any information that happens to come your way, are going to fall off the wayside soon enough. Most of these people just want a following, they want someone to believe them, they are the false prophets, for not one of them has any Scriptural reference to what they are proclaiming. But that is not the worst of it, it is not just that they are fulfilling 2 Timothy 3:13, “But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.” They only want to be removed from this planet for selfish, petty reasons, not for the glory of God.
I would presume, and I believe rightly so, that few if any of these individuals have ever brought someone down the Roman’s Road, have ever spoken the words of the way of salvation to anyone. They are full of facts, of all the recent events occurring in the world, but they have never asked anyone if they have been justified yet.
“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” (Matt. 5:6) Do you understand what this verse means? It means when you are dead, it means that you are no longer on this planet because righteousness in its holiest form cannot be found here, evil can, and it is abundant. Those who desire for the great and terrible day of the Lord to begin (Amos 5:18) are praying for the tribulation period to begin, they are praying that billions of people, that all life on this planet, will begin to suffer horribly, that the wrath of God will begin to be poured out upon all of creation, all by these five little selfish words, “Oh, Jesus come back soon!” “
And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience.” (Romans 5:3) This is not one of their key verses. “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” (Phil. 1:21) This does not even enter into their minds, the desire to be in the fellowship of Christ’s sufferings, (Phil. 3:10) is neither a desire nor a reality to them, they just want to get out of here.
I want evil destroyed, I want evil people cast into hell so they no longer can influence anyone, so they can no longer cause pain and suffering, so that the name of Jesus will never be dishonored again by even one of them. “Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” (Matt. 7:14) Most people are going to hell, all false prophets are going to hell, these facts should be in your head, for they are the truth, and it matters not one bit if you like it or not. “For many are called, but few are chosen.” (Matt. 22:14)
Where do you think the “few” are going to end up at? Twenty years, are you willing to keep proclaiming your warning for twenty years? Here is your responsibility, you are to reach the lost, and by the way, you’re not going to know if they are lost unless you speak to them, you are to reprove and correct, (2 Tim. 4:2) that means when someone is professing something about the Lord God that is not accurate according to His word, you are required to reprove them, to give them the truth.
For us to say that we do not want to see anyone end up in hell is a conundrum, for we do not, but we also want to see evil punished, and that would mean all the wicked people. We are torn. Of course I want to go to my eternal home, whether by the rapture or by death, it makes no difference to me, but not for those same selfish reasons so may are professing today, I want the name of God to be exalted above the heavens, (Psalm 57:5) all the time, by everyone, I want to be around those who love Him, who believe that Christ is precious. I want evil men and women in hell, as far away from us as possible, and that will happen, rest assured in these truths. If I need to wait twenty years for that, so be it. Thy will be done.
