Truth, Not Feelings

“The beginning of the word of the LORD by Hosea. And the LORD said to Hosea, Go, take unto thee a wife of whoredoms and children of whoredoms: for the land hath committed great whoredom, departing from the LORD.” (Hosea 1:2)

If you believe that the Almighty is speaking to you specifically, personally, concerning a certain topic, it would be wise of you to be very, very sure of what you believe it is that He has said to you. I doubt very many today would say, “God told me to go downtown and marry the prostitute that stands on the street corner,” but few would have difficulty saying, “I feel like the Holy Spirit is leading me to…” and then add any endless number of words to the end of that sentence.

Misinterpretation of the Scriptures is perhaps the greatest deviation from the truths of them in nearly every age, and those who will not study to show themselves approved, who may indeed be born-again but in a sense see the Lord Jesus Christ as an addendum, an addition to their lives, can be easily deceived, not only by their own lack of Spiritual and Scriptural knowledge, but by our adversary and his wiles as well.

“Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.” (James 4:3)

How could they ask amiss if they understand the truths of the Scriptures?

“But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.” (James 1:6)

Doubts concerning those truths as well will cause many to go astray and listen to those their ears should be stopped towards.

Religious works-based cults are proof of these words, those who say that the Almighty has revealed some new truth to them that cannot be verified by His complete and finished given Word are proof, there is no “part two” to the Word of God my friends.

“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;” (1st Tim. 4:1)

How easily are so many led astray because they will not pray for wisdom towards His revealed words, who will not seek diligently for Spiritual discernment, for the ability to be able to discern between the good and the bad, who will not stop knocking on that door until truth in a specific case is revealed to them, and how many simply accept what they are told without question.

No matter what anyone says to you, no matter who it is, if they profess to have been told to reveal some new truth to you, ask them where in the Word of God it can be judged against. If they say it is a new revelation from the Lord, leave their presence.

“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.” (Gal. 1:8)

If you believe that the Holy Spirit is leading you to perform some task, go about some business for the glory of God, speak certain words to someone, if you feel led to, then make Him prove it, and then judge those words with the truths of the Word of God. And do not take those words as disrespectful, for we are commanded to do just that.

“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” (1st John 4:1)

It is quite easy to lead silly women astray my friends, anyone who has a firm grasp of human nature and a propensity for eloquent oration can cause nearly anyone to believe what they say is the truth, how do you think advertising companies become so wealthy?

If you believe you are being called by the Almighty to follow a certain part of the path set before you, you had best be certain that path still leads to the strait gate. We do not need concrete indisputable evidence each time, that is what our faith is for, but that faith must rest in the already revealed truths of His Holy Word, not on some feeling, not on traditions or what you think is right.

“But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.” (2nd Tim. 3:13)

Religious cults are already here, false prophets are growing in numbers every day, the truth will set you free, make very sure you know those truths.
