The world calls it something besides sin, the closest they will name it would be morally incorrect, and that morality varies from location to location across the planet.
When a young person looks at pornography for the first time they experience two emotions, as it were at the exact same time, one is excitement the other is a sense of wrong. When a wife of many years to a devoted husband experiences an emotional instant attraction to someone she has just met, she feels both of these emotions. “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” (Gen. 1:27)
Inside of every human being is the knowledge of the Holy, whether they will admit it or not, the knowledge that no matter what circumstance presents itself, it is either good or evil. These moral constructs that mankind places upon themselves have always been modified, this is Satan’s world, and one of his responsibilities, as it were, is to attempt to draw people away from the knowledge of the Divine, to persuade them into believing, if not that God does not exist, then to coerce them into thinking that stepping outside of that inner construct is not that bad. Murder is worse than a momentary thought of lust towards another, rape is worse than hating someone.
Those who are growing in the grace and knowledge of the Lord fight a battle daily that the wicked will never understand, even some of our thoughts are an offense to us, for we have been commanded to keep every thought captive for Christ, (2 Cor. 10:5) we have been instructed that even to look upon a woman with lust is a sin. That is the crux of the matter, to those who are not saved the word sin has no meaning, it would infer that there is a standard set by a Sovereign being that supersedes all moral standards set by mankind, and that if that standard is not met, there will be eternal consequences.
How can one be justifiably punished for a thought, if there is no action or deed that follows, how can a punishment be justified?
All the moral constructs of mankind are based on one presupposition, if you do not get caught, there is no punishment. Many in prison will tell you that they feel regret over their actions that placed them there, not because they got caught, but because they realize that it was wrong to do what they did. But not against God. “Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders.” (Matt. 27:3) He did not repent before God, but repented before his own conscience, he did not ask forgiveness from the Lord, but was simply sorry for what he did.
The knowledge of good and evil is within every human being, but it is not there because the society we live in has mandated certain laws, it is not there of our own free will, it has been placed in us by He who made all men. The world will never call it sin, it will never openly recognize the Almighty, for that would usurp them from the throne that they have placed themselves on, whether it be a king or a slave, sin requires the acknowledgment of God.
What once was done in the shadows is now performed in the open, for Romans 3:18 stands as truth, “There is no fear of God before their eyes.” Open rebellion against the will of the Most High must be shown to be nothing more than the expression of our free will, and the moral constructs of mankind are being altered to not only allow that free will free reign, but is beginning to punish those who will not accept it. This “new age of man” that is approaching, this supposed “Build Back Better” can only be built upon one foundation, the attempted destruction of the will of God.
The Word of God tells us how it will end, “And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect’s sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.” (Mark 13:20) Mankind has forgotten that the Lord God is Sovereign over all of His creation, He is going to remind them of that truth.
