The Waves of Lies

Depending on what television news station you regularly view, what internet sites you frequent, or even what periodicals or newspapers you view, your perspective is most generally attuned to those information outlets. For the most part, we tend to flock to those places that we agree with, and many times without questioning the authority, the truth, of the information given.

We far too often are deceived ourselves by believing in others, and the Scriptures are quite clear, “Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.” (Jer. 17:5) This need not be relegated to the secular world, but is quite visible in nearly every church, the one behind the podium speaks, and we believe, and it would do little good to tell you that if you do not go home after the service on Sunday morning and check your Bible with what the pastor said, if you are not using a King James Bible, then you will believe only what you have been told because you have either all been using various translations, or, as it is with the Roman Catholic Institution, been told to use the one they say to.

The King James Bible and a Strong’s Concordance, those should be your first two “go to” reference sources at all times, and in that order. If you have difficulty with all the “thee’s and thou’s,” with words like froward, than do what the word of God says, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” (James 1:5) If you do not think that there is enough difference in the translations, then put them side by side and study both, but do not just get the next new Bible on the market because it is easier for you to read, don’t just listen and believe anyone about anything, check the facts.

It is fair to say that the perception of the truth is all that matters today, switch from one channel to another that is reporting on the same subject and immediately you will find that someone is lying, not just reporting about what fits their narrative the best, but outright lying. In these days the father of lies is making sure of that, those who live lives of faith based on emotions, such as the Charismatics and Pentecostals, are coming out of the woodwork, the Roman Catholic Church is pressing for more works, more beads and requests to Mary and every other idol they can think of, Mormons are hoarding food above and beyond what they are obligated to, every religions cult is working overtime. Doom and gloom are the order of the day in the secular world, and the Evangelical church has forgotten their calling, they are locking their doors, closing off every other pew, actually wearing masks in public that proclaim a faith that they do not truly have.

How can one profess faith in Christ as Lord, as the keeper and sustainer of not only their souls but their very lives while wearing a covering on their face from something that has no verifiable facts to base its claims on.

The truth is in the Word of God, but it is not setting them free. As I have stated many times in the past, to know the totality of a thing, one must know the inverse of that thing. I have owned in the past many different versions of the Scriptures, at least that is what some of them were called, but through diligent prayer and research, I have never been able to put a capitol “B” on any of them but the King James Version. I have done in the past personal research on the Roman Catholic Church, Lutherans, Methodist, Presbyterians, Mormons, Jehovah’s Witness’, a score of far eastern religions and other organizations, and have found all of them to have one thing in common, they are all cults.

I have attended many different churches in my day, and have nearly always double-checked what the pastor has preached on that morning, and if there was what I felt was a discrepancy with what he said and the inerrant Word of God, then I brought it to his attention. You should be doing no less. Some of these men were definitely not called by God, some could not preach their way out of a wet paper bag, some were wrong, according to the Word of God, and they should be questioned on the reasons they preached thus.

If you are not questioning, you are not growing, if you are following someone who you know to be incorrect when it comes to the truths of Scriptures and are not sounding the alarm bell, then your fear of reproving and correcting in love will eventually lead you down the path of apathy. This may come as a surprise to you, but not everything on the internet or the television is true, neither is everything that your pastor says.

All of us can be deceived, myself included, it is why I ask the Lord nearly everyday to be “filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.” (Col. 1:9) I cannot function at my best for His glory if I do not know His will, plain and simple truth. It is why I pray to ““Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad.” (1 Kings 3:9) If I do not have this heart in me, I will never question, I will never do all the research necessary, and I will be deceived.

The subtle tricks of Satan are only going to grow as these days progress, unquestioning obedience is the goal, and every lie will be to that end. “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” (1 Peter 5:8) Take nothing for granted these days my brothers and sisters, the Lord is allowing much, Satan is taking every advantage he can get, for he knows his time is short. What you cannot verify in ultimate truth, disallow from your mind, the days are evil, and the truth is under attack. Seek refuge in the Lord, the war has already been won, and our part as believers in Christ in the battle is almost over. “Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” (Eph. 6:13)
