Killing time, wasting time, making time, wishing for more time.
You have proven this perceptual fact to yourself many times, that time can drag on or seem to fly by, five minutes can seem like an eternity, and days, even years can go so quickly that we hardly perceive their passage.
“But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,” (Gal. 4:4)
Time exists for the Almighty, but in a way that is truly beyond our comprehension, we flow through it, He is the river that causes it to flow, for all times, from eternity past to eternity in the future, are as one single moment of time for the Living God. He is everywhere in all times continuously.
Impossible for the human mind to fully comprehend, for we are subject to the law of time, and in this sense, we always will be. If something is anticipated, it is in the future, here and now, at this very moment is the present, when an action, no matter what form it takes, is past, it is in the past. That is not how the Living God perceives time, He is neither bound by it or subject to it in any fashion.
“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.” (Rev. 1:8)
Even that verse is unfathomable to us, for it infers a beginning and an end, of which in all truth, neither is applicable to the Almighty.
Time my friends is neither our enemy nor our friend, it simply is, unless you look at it in this regard, that you only have so much of it in this life.
It is here, in this life, on this planet, where eternal consequences are made, where rewards are earned or lost, where eternal life or eternal death must be decided by us. And you only have so much time to do so.
Wouldn’t it be nice if the unrepentant would treat that time of repentance in the same manner they do when they are running late to somewhere they need to be? Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we who have been born again would treat the time we have here in this life with urgency when it comes to seeking the lost, praying, glorifying His name?
Those who seek after the things of this world have one thing in common with those who are hid in Christ, who serve the Lord Jesus Christ to the glory of the Father, they both know the truth of these words.
“I wish I had more time.”
There are no lost to seek for in heaven, there are no crowns or rewards to earn there, all that happens here, in this life, and no matter your age, you only have so much time to do so.
“Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” (1st Cor. 10:31)
We should always live with some form of urgency within us, knowing full well that the fulness of time for each of us is drawing closer each day. But the burdens of life are ever pressing, are they not? There is always something that must be done, and only so much time in the day to do them.
Here then is what must be done by each of us who seek and serve the Living God, we must prioritize our time, we must place in the scales that which is temporal and that which is eternal, and we must be willing to honestly see which way the balance tips in our lives, in our walk with the Lord of Glory.
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:” (2nd Tim. 4:7)
An efficient use of our time here is required by us, by the Almighty, this is a truth. Now is the time to look at your life and see if you are using the time allotted to you wisely.
