“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” (Isaiah 26:3)
There is something very important you need to keep in mind if you are going to pray for wisdom, if you are going to ask the Almighty to fill you with His knowledge so that you can glorify Him greatly by contending for the faith, if you have any intentions of yelling up at the sky one day the words “Use me!” and mean it with all your being.
That perfect peace is not what your brothers and sisters in Christ envision it to be, it is wholly and completely different from what many of them imagine it to mean.
It is not that nothing else matters, it is that everything, all things, now hold second place to His will in your life, it means not just dying to self, but being consumed by Him and for Him. Nearly all of your family and friends will desert you, even those in your church family, for in the greatest sense, you now follow wherever you are led, no matter the circumstances that surround you or the possible consequences to yourself. You will know perfect peace in the midst of grief and sorrow, knowing the truth more clearly of Isaiah 53:3.
“He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.”
You will find true contentment in pain and suffering, both of the flesh and your mind.
“Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.” (Phil. 4:11)
You will begin to think eternally, and the cares of this world will mean nothing to you, save for the fact of how many are deceived by it. And you will know, if He so desires to bless you in this manner, the fellowship of His suffering.
Romans 8:18 will become a truth to you.
“For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”
You will hear Him say in your soul long before you will hear it from His lips, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” (Matt. 25:21)
And you will know, without one shred of doubt, that you were not worthy to be called and chosen, much less used for His glory.
And that peace that those whom you will spend eternity with, that peace they believe means being happy and healthy, means a life lived with little to no struggling or hardships, with no true frustrations, grief or sorrow, you will know for what it is, a peace that passes all understanding, and that never goes away.
“For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;” (Col. 1:9)
Stepping outside the boundaries of the average Evangelical community, hating evil, never agreeing to disagree when it comes to the Word of God, standing on the Rock of your salvation while some hurl insults and worse at you, and others leave your side because in their minds you have gone too far, you do not seem to speak the truth in love to them, but are now seen as contentious, you reprove and correct when necessary, concerned more with their salvation than hurting their feelings, and are now called judgmental, the Pharisee on the wall.
And in every moment, when the frustrations arrive, when anger begins to boil within you, when they will not hear truth, you still know a perfect peace.
If it is not profitable for the Kingdom of the Almighty, it is not worth pursuing, if it does not lift up the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, if it does not glorify the Most High, it is abandoned by you. You will fulfill Philippians 3:8 in your life.
“Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,”
The road less traveled my friends is the same road all those who have been born-again walk upon to that strait gate, but it is just a little off to the side of the well-worn path. He will place you there if you ask Him to, but you must prepare to leave everything, and everyone for Him.
