The Path of Submission

We as believers in Jesus Christ really need to stop sometimes and think, we are going to spend eternity in His continual bliss, we will never want again, never feel pain or know sorrow, and yet we worry, worry about finances, about our health, about our family, about almost anything.

There have been a few things over the last two years or so that have changed me, and I pass them on to you only as a potential reference point, as food for thought, if you will. When we are called by Christ, when we become heirs to the kingdom of heaven, it is heaven from that point on that we are to serve, anything else will be seen as treason. This was point one, my service was only in part to Christ, self, and the world were still my main endeavors, I thought as I used to think, and gave no thought that the world I had been called away from no longer needed or wanted me.

It was not long after this, at least in the time line of the Lord, for me it was several years, for I am still a stiff-necked, hard-headed individual, that the beginnings of certain verses in the Scriptures began to strike at my heart, the ones that started with “Thus saith the Lord.” This was God talking, and if you are only going to listen to one voice, His is the voice that should draw your attention. I began to be shown through some very old books, some of them several hundred years old, a word that basically changed my walk with the Lord, that showed my exactly who it is I was supposed to be serving, that word was Sovereign. Holy, Just, Righteous, Redeemer, Savior, yes, many times over and many more titles are attributed to our Lord, but for me that word Sovereign means one thing and can only ever be used in context with the Most High. He is in charge, there are no debatable points here, it is not a contestable issue, and if I was going to become a profitable servant it was high time that I started to submit to the only Sovereign Lord.

Verses were then placed into my heart, verses like Colossians 1:9 “For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.” And not just in head knowledge, but in wisdom and spiritual discernment. To pray for wisdom is to seek the face of God, for He alone is most wise, and He alone is the only One that can give a man the wisdom he needs to serve well. Spiritual discernment? How else would a servant know how to serve in the Spiritual realm without it, it would be an impossibility, for “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” (John 4:24) To be filled with the knowledge of the will of God is the ultimate freedom that a born-again believer can know, if you know the will of God, you can serve well, no more guess work, faith becomes a fact, every step is planned out by Him, (Prov. 16:9) and in confidence and boldness covered in humility we can step forward on the path.

But until the day when He calls me home, the day, the exact moment that the work He has assigned to me is completed, I must continue to work in enemy territory, I must do all that I can to be a profitable servant, to handle my responsibilities as an ambassador of heaven with great care, and for that I need a heart that can discern between good and evil, it is the only way that the follower of Christ can hope to not be deceived, especially in these last days,  “For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.” (Matt. 24:24)

I pray no other items for myself, save for occasionally when the physical pain gets bad some days, but that too shall pass. I do not know if I am, but I have determined to set my face like a flint, to not be deterred in the path that He has set me on. These brief and poorly written words will only avail a man if he will first mean in his heart Philippians 1:21 “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” Anything else without the fortitude of this verse will avail you very little. If Christ is worthy of our service, then He is worthy of all that we can give Him, for a Sovereign Lord will accept no less, and should expect no less from us.

There are several items I would ask you to consider before you click on the Donate button.

1.    Please pray carefully about donating; “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” (2nd Cor. 9:7)

2.    Your first responsibility is to the Lord; “Honor the LORD with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase”: (Prov. 3:9)

3.    You must consider your family after your first responsibility; “But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” (1st Tim. 5:8)

4.    If you determine that you have been blessed by this ministry and decide to donate, please know this, your donations will be accepted with great thanks, and all the glory will go to God.
