The Moment of Disobedience

There are people out there who deny the Lord Jesus Christ. Now, I know this is no great revelation to you, we all know this, but I do not speak of those who simply have a passing thought of God occasionally, when the times get difficult or when they really want something, the “Last option God” they seek, nor about those who do not even give Him that much thought, He never enters into some individual’s minds, believe it or not.

There are those who actually believe in the existence of Jesus Christ, and they spend a majority of their lives hating Him. These are not just deniers of His existence, but people who are adamant about all that He stands for, if you will, and do all that they can to disrespect, dishonor, and mock Him in any way possible. There are books written on this subject, internet videos and articles, entire lives sometimes are spent in this pursuit, their target is Christ, and since He is not walking around on the planet at this time, we, the born-again believers, will do just fine as the focus of their hatred.

The point is not so much the suffering that they will bring to bear upon us, not to belittle any who have experienced this, but instead, I wonder today what it is that has brought these individuals to a point that has created such great hatred for One who speaks of love, mercy, and forgiveness.

Not every little boy and girl grows up in a happy, healthy, loving environment, and so this may be in part a reason, perhaps the realization at a certain age that the religious organization they were forced to attend in those formative years brought about an animosity, in any case, abuse in one form or another was placed upon them, and the target of their anger became Christ. “Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?” (Psalm 2:1) That is the question, why would anyone hold such great hatred against the One that created them. “Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.” (Eze. 28:15)

There is a hatred beyond compare on this planet, one that started all hatred, in one who did not only see Christ in person, but who was the covering cherubim (Eze. 28:14) one who has been in heaven. Here is where it started, and here is where we must begin our search, for that same moment of disobedience that was found in Adam that moment in the garden of Eden, was first found in Lucifer.

I have nothing but conjecture here, no one has the answer to that one moment of time, the instant when something happened in the mind of Satan that brought about thousands of years of suffering for hundreds of billions of human beings, for untold numbers of animals and wildlife, that brought upon even the earth itself a curse from the Most High. Why did our adversary become disobedient. Pride of course, “I will” (Isaiah 14:14) is the standard answer, because it is all we need to know at this time. To defeat an enemy, one must have as much knowledge about that enemy that we can garner, in this case, the enemy is us. “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” (1 Cor. 10:13)

The temptation of Adam we do not know, not his in that one defining, personal, world changing moment, not that one balance tipping moment of thought that Satan had that changed everything, but we know what it means to be tempted, to be disobedient to the Lord God, and that may be as close as we will ever get, or want to get, to knowing the exact reason why some individuals hate Christ with a burning passion, why they will deny His Lordship until their dying day, why they are vessels fitted for destruction. (Romans 9:22)

There is a way that all things either now or will for eternity glorify the Most High, we do not need to understand His reasons, but to not contemplate them would be a dishonor to His name. “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” (Prov. 3:5-6)

There are several items I would ask you to consider before you click on the Donate button.

1.    Please pray carefully about donating; “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” (2nd Cor. 9:7)

2.    Your first responsibility is to the Lord; “Honor the LORD with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase”: (Prov. 3:9)

3.    You must consider your family after your first responsibility; “But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” (1st Tim. 5:8)

4.    If you determine that you have been blessed by this ministry and decide to donate, please know this, your donations will be accepted with great thanks, and all the glory will go to God.
