“I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.” (John 9:4)
Not a problem, you might say, I’ll just turn the lights on.
My friends, if you are one of the lights that shines brighter unto that glorious day, your light should never be turned off, in fact, it should never even be dimmed down. Many who profess to have a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ do so though in certain company, they may not allow the darkness to envelope them, but they will acquiesce to it. Wanting to fit in, not wanting to stand out, not wanting to offend, possibly losing their job or friendship with someone.
“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?” (2nd Cor. 6:14)
They are, in a sense, lights that flicker on and off depending on the current company they are in.
It is inconceivable to me that with over eight billion people on the planet those who have truly been born-again could be sorted out, we may be sheep who follow the Good Shepherd, but we are not fools, nor will we simply lay down and wait our turn as the authorities who follow Satan go door-to-door searching for those they hate, those who love the Lord Jesus Christ. But the night is indeed coming and the works we have been sent to do may become extremely difficult.
You must remember, we have in that sense been working in the dark all along, this earth is an evil, dark place and it despises the light that reveals its sins.
These letters meant to glorify God, the social media sites you visit that are produced by men of God for His glory, even a single page of the Word of God in many nations will cost you not only your freedom, but in many cases your life.
“If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.” (John 15:18)
That should be all the comfort you need.
Something on a world-wide scale will happen, something meant to cause great fear, it happened in a sense just a few years ago, it will happen again, and the darkness will once again attempt to quench the light. My friends, the darker it gets, the brighter you are to shine.
Did you hide in your house? Did you put a mask on? Do you agree with those who locked the doors of the church, turning off the lights to all who sought refuge there? Did you turn your light off for a while until those in authority said you could turn it on again?
If so, did you learn your lesson, is Philippians 1:21 a truth to you now? “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” Or will the closest thing to a truth that Satan ever said ensnare you again? “Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.” (Job 2:4)
If you truly are one of the lights sent by the Almighty to show the way of salvation to all that will listen there are only two that can turn that light off, you and the Lord. He will do so by your death; you can do so by fear.
Have you ever noticed that it gets darker gradually, the sun does not automatically shut off, but slowly sinks below the horizon. Shadows of things to come have been revealed to those who have eyes to see and ears to hear, and those who serve the Living God, even to the point of the loss of their lives did not and will not run and hide from the present danger.
What is approaching cannot be stopped, if your light is flickering on and off, if it grows dimmer as the shadows grow deeper, then fear, not love is ruling your life.
