The Fulness Of Time

“But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,” (Gal. 4:4)

The time of the Gentiles began in the days of Jeremiah, when King Zedekiah was taken captive and Jerusalem was destroyed. That time will end when the Lord Jesus Christ comes back at the end of the days of Jacob’s Troubles.

“And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.” (Luke 21:24)

The fulness of these times is significant, but not as many perceive it to be, for in these days besides what are described to us in the Scriptures as signs, we know only the truth of this verse.

“But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.” (Matt. 24:36)

Only the Almighty can see, as it were, the clock ticking down to the Rapture, and while we are to use Spiritual discernment in the signs mentioned, this is to be our priority.

“Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.” (Matt. 24:46)

Diversions, my friends, is the way of our adversary, and while it takes very little for the wicked’s attention span to be diverted by him, it is those who serve the Lord Jesus Christ that he focuses his attention on. Whom He finds so doing are those that understand and fulfill each day, every possible moment, with this truth.

“If ye love me, keep my commandments.” (John 14:15)

To follow the world while placing our obedience to the will and Word of God secondary to it is to be conformed to the world. To spend the majority of your time seeking for that “next sign,” looking for that next “Breaking news account,” is to be conformed to this world, and that is the manner in which our adversary is attempting to divert those who have been born-again from what we should be doing.

And sadly, I believe for many it is working quite well.

“The righteous man wisely considereth the house of the wicked” (Prov. 21:12a)

Yes, indeed, for if we do not, our enemy will have an advantage over us. Why throw darts at a shield of faith when the helmet of salvation is not securely placed upon your prey?

Information from nearly every part of the planet is available at a moment’s notice, and an overload of information, especially when it is nearly constantly of a despairing nature, can cause apathy. And people that are apathetic rarely begin to consider anyone outside of themselves and their own personal well-being.

And so, in this regard and because of our desire for that next new breaking story, this verse has become a reality.

“For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,” (2nd Tim. 3:2)

If people are not focusing their cell phone camera on some supposed interesting event, they are pointing it at themselves, and so, useless knowledge is abounding.

The fulness of the time of the Gentiles is coming to a close, and so the question for you is this, are you watching it happen as a bystander, or are you doing what we are to be doing, obeying in love and for His name’s sake He who first loved us?

I have mentioned this before, but it bears repeating here again. If you were to look back on just the previous week, what did your eyes view more, what did you allow your ears to hear, your mind to assimilate, what is happening in the world, or the Word and will of God?

“For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.” (1st Cor. 11:31)

If you have been watching the world and the path of wickedness it is on, can you honestly say that it was because you have been studying your adversary, watching as he diverts the attention of those on this earth away from the truth of these days, these beginnings of sorrows?

“Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” (Matt. 7:14)

I pray you have not strayed off that path.

2.    Your first responsibility is to the Lord; “Honor the LORD with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase”: (Prov. 3:9)

3.    You must consider your family after your first responsibility; “But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” (1st Tim. 5:8)
