“Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.” (Prov. 11:4)
Occasionally when I am scrolling through YouTube Christian content, I see a comment that speaks of how someone is now blessed with large sums of money, and how they can now give more to their church, their family and to the Lord. The opening verse in this short letter to you today is the one I place in the comment section of these people, but that is not what I read in the replies to that original comment.
Nearly all who reply to these people want to know how they did it, how they accumulated so much supposed wealth, for they want the same.
I am not concerned whether or not it is real or a scam, that makes no difference to me, what is concerning is that the hundreds that reply to that initial comment not only do not understand the opening verse here but have no contentment where the Almighty has placed them, if indeed they have been born-again.
“And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.” (Mark 4:19)
I have never in my life met anyone who has more that does not want more, I have never met a completely content believer, myself included.
Forgive me if I have mentioned this before, but were you aware that ninety-two percent of all Powerball winners are broke within five years? Money is not an enemy my friends, the love of it is, the deceitfulness it brings in additional material items in part, but mostly in the supposed security it brings with it.
Do you know why the streets where we are going are made of gold? Why there are so many what we call precious jewels there, why the gates are large pearls?
“Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;” (1st Cor. 3:12)
No one in heaven is ever tempted in any fashion by the enormous wealth all those things represent, but neither do they ever take any of them for granted, and none who seek for the wealth of this world, of the security it brings, will ever enter into those gates.
“Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” (Matt. 6:34)
“But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:” (Matt. 6:20)
In my own personal opinion, I believe nearly everyone on this planet soon is going to be flat broke, or very close to it, those who love money will find that its value has decreased beyond anything they thought possible, and the truth of 1st Timothy 6:10 will be known to them.
“For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”
Who is the richer man in a famine, the one with a loaf of bread or the one with a bar of gold?
The world says, “A fool and his money are soon parted,” the Word of God says, “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.” (Psalm 14:1)
Our adversary knows these truths better than anyone alive, that if you remove their ability to purchase the items they need, and then offer them those items, they will follow you, they will obey you. And that is in part what is approaching.
“And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.” (Job 2:4)
There is a very good possibility that you will have to make a decision in the coming days, and that decision will reveal to you who it is you serve. I pray not, but the warning must be given.
When the hedges are lowered, when the Holy Spirit’s hindering of evil ceases on this planet, we will leave with Him, but it may get pretty rough, to say the least, before that day.
It is one thing to save up a little cash, store some extra food and supplies in your house, it is quite another to seek for the kind of wealth that would allow you to tear down your barns and build new ones.
In the days that are approaching my friends, faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is all we should need.
