The Conservative Fundamentalist

A conservative fundamentalist in what we will call a religious connotation here, is a person that believes that the Bible is God breathed, that it is the inspired Word of God, that it is without errors and without contradictions. It is a Book written by the Most High that is to be followed implicitly in relation to this age of grace that we live in. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” (2 Tim. 3:16)

Most generally the conservative fundamentalist will stick with the King James Bible, he has prayed for the wisdom to understand it, (James 1:5) and he will do all that he can to apply the Word of God to his life on not just a daily basis, but in every moment of his life. The Word of God is precious to him, but not as precious as the Savior who wrote it, who hung on the cross for him, this man will submit to the will of God, even at the expense of his own life.

This person in totality probably does not exist today, but that does not mean that there are not those who are attempting to live this life to its fullest in this world today. To be pleasing in the eyes of the Lord is not to seek His favor, it is not for any rewards, either in this life or the next, it is to see that the Almighty is glorified in all that he does. If this man fell, his fall would be seen as disrespectful to him only because it would hinder the spreading of the Gospel, only because the name of the Lord would be defamed amongst the heathen. “Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.” (Psalm 51:4) Every sentence spoken must be guarded, must be contemplated, the Holy Spirit must be allowed to speak through this man for the edification of the saints, (Eph. 4:12) for the reproof and correction of the same, (2 Tim. 3:16) for the rebuke of the heathen, in love, and always for the glory of God.

This man will fall, more than seven times, (Prov. 24:16) he will tire of the work, the frustration level will be almost unbearable some days, for he has been blessed with the truth, and can find few that can see it as such. The path that the Lord has set before him has been tread by many before him, it is well-worn, those who are to be his examples are the God-fearing men of the past, men who did not sway from the purpose that was set before them, to follow Christ, the Maker and first One to walk that path. It is in His footsteps that they desire to follow, and each step is taken with great care.

These men are becoming few and far between, too many have decided that the world can be mixed in with their supposed service to the Lord, they believe that He was speaking only about the pursuit of money when He said, “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” (Matt. 6:24) The death of self does not grow easier as this man draws closer to the throne of God, but exponentially more difficult, for even the most minor infraction is a grievous sin to him.

He will be seen as too contentious, too adamant, too conservative by those that meet him, and if he is not careful, he will see them as only “half-Christians,” as people not prepared to sacrifice all for the Lord Jesus. His ears do not need to be itched, (2 Tim. 4:3) he is part of the elect, (Col. 3:12) he is chosen of God, and has one purpose in this life, to see the name of the Most High exalted above the heavens.

Strive to be this person, strive by submitting completely to the will of the Holy Spirit in your life, become a profitable servant. With all you have, desire to hear these words, “His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” (Matt. 25:23)
