What do you say to the person who claims to know Jesus Christ as Lord, but does not notice the increasingly growing and rampant evil that is unfolding on the planet? But then we must ask this question also, what do you say to the brother or sister in Christ that can do little else but speak about that growing evil?
One may be in denial for whatever reason and the other is consumed by it, both are saved, yet they hold two different and completely opposite perspectives. Perhaps the individual first mentioned rests in John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” Perhaps the for the second individual Psalms 94:16 would stand as a greater truth, “Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?”
There are many members of the body of Christ my friend, the eye cannot say to the hand, but there is one thing I am noticing, the one who is at rest in these troubling times is not always completely welcomed in a church where the news of the previous week is always at the forefront of the sermon, nor is the one who pays attention to every “sign of the times” always welcomed in a church resting in the Lord.
Works-based religious organizations have little trouble in this area, simply follow the rules, regulations, bylaws and traditions and you will fit right in, but not so with many places that still call themselves Evangelical, especially in those that have less than a hundred members or so.
And that is the first clue for you, are you asked to become a member, to sign on the dotted line your statement of fealty to the precepts, the doctrinal standard of belief held by that church? If you have entered into one of these buildings you will have noticed that before you are allowed to become a member, those who have sat in the pews for years, sometimes decades, will want to get to know you first, but not where you stand in your faith in Christ.
Where are you from, where do you live, where do you work, your political views, even after a short time how much money you make. There are quite a few questions to be answered before you can join these community clubhouses, these members who meet once a week in that building with a cross in it somewhere. The car you drive, the clothes you wear, the way you speak, even the length of your hair, these are the first requirements. You do not necessarily need to be stringent on their Spiritual and Scriptural aspects, after all, the Word of God is always open to interpretation they say, but it is highly important, in fact necessary that you fit in with the group when it comes to the things of the world.
Think like they think and you’re in, never mind the minor things, like who Jesus Christ is.
I know they are out there still, places of true worship where the raggedly dressed man and the one with torn clothes still kneel beside the finely attired individual, both seeking the will of God in their lives for His glory, I just haven’t heard of one for years now. Sitting at the footstool of the head members of the community clubhouse seems to be the norm today.
