With each of these letters I make a cup of coffee, it is the only time I drink coffee, and rarely do I ever finish the entire cup. This morning the coffee machine decided not to work, and so later today I will do as I have almost always done in my life, I will disassemble the machine and attempt to repair it. If I cannot, I will look at the budget and see if there is enough in it to replace the machine.
We have two choices in this life my friends, we can accept things the way they are, or we can attempt to do something about it. I would ask you to look at the following two verses and accept the truth of them.
“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15)
“Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.” (Matt. 7:6)
The probability that every person you meet in this life has not been born again is extremely high, and you must make a decision as to what you are going to do about that. And I will offer you this truth as well, receive it in wisdom. If you wait every time that you meet someone for the Holy Spirit to initialize the topic of that person’s salvation, or lack thereof, you are not going to be profitable.
It is an excuse from many that I have heard thousands of times. “I didn’t feel led to say anything.”
What do feelings have to do with commandments? “The coffee machine is broken, oh well, nothing I can do about it.”
You cannot fix those people who are yet in their sins, only the Holy Spirit can do that, but you know full well who He uses to initiate and expound upon the conversation that needs to take place, and if you do not attempt to do so, if you do not open your mouth and start speaking of the One you profess to serve and love, then the validity of your supposed service would be in question.
If I do not at least attempt to repair that coffee machine, then I have already accepted defeat, and how could I break more than that which is already broken?
“How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?” (Romans 10:14)
Do not attempt to deceive yourself here, the Lord did not say after you have attended a Christian college and earned your pastoral degree to then go out and search for the lost, He said to go out into the world and look for those lost sheep.
You have been told what to do, and nearly all of us who are hid in Christ know full well the reason why we do not speak at times. It has nothing to do with not feeling led to, it has everything to do with some form of embarrassment. These people are already broken, they are unrepentant, how could you possibly damage them anymore than what they already are?
“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” (2nd Peter 3:9)
Not speaking to them has nothing to do with the Holy Spirit, it has nothing to do with the love of the Lord Jesus Christ for them, it has everything to do with you, and if you do not think it does, if you keep using that excuse of “I didn’t feel led to speak,” then you are not being led on the path to that strait gate, but are deceiving yourself.
“And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?” (Luke 6:46)
You must understand this analogy, I really do not care if I can fix that coffee machine or not, but if I do not try, then I have already accepted defeat. The Holy Spirit will decide if those people are to be reached or not, but that does not give me the right not to try.
