What would your answer be if I asked you, “Do you think anyone in heaven has ever said, ‘Do you know what I miss?’”
The same question posed to one in hell today would possibly take many years to answer.
“And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” (Luke 9:62)
This is purely conjecture on my part, but if there is an heirloom, a favorite, cherished item that has never been placed between the Lord and your love for Him, I see no reason that it could not reside within your house in heaven. You realized a long time ago that it was only an emotional attachment, and whether or not it is in heaven with you is of little consequence to you.
Many people frown at that question, that it might be possible to miss something from here while in heaven, have a longing for something while we spend eternity in the presence of the One we have longed to be with in this life, it seems wrong to them to even contemplate it.
“And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.” (Rev. 21:5)
But I will place this image into your imagination, and let you reconsider the question.
Imagine a wall so high up that you cannot see the top of it, and to your left and right it extends far beyond your field of vision. On it are written the names of every single person that will spend eternity in the Kingdom of the Almighty, perfectly legible and in alphabetical order. When you search for the name of a loved one, and find the place where it should be, but it is not there, will you miss them?
Sometimes I do not like what I am led to place into your minds, not everything is encouraging, not everything concerning our thoughts about the Celestial Kingdom brings joy. And this is one of them.
“For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.” (Isaiah 65:17)
I will not repeat what I have already expounded upon many times, but I personally do not believe that our memories will be wiped clean of this life, I do believe that we will be able to finally and fully accept the truth of the following words without reservation or hesitation.
“Thy will be done.”
Yes, you will miss them because you loved them, but your love for our Holy and righteous Lord will excel far beyond anything that we have ever known in this life. We will understand that they are in the Lake of Fire, and will remain there for all eternity by their own choice. And I realize that cannot be fully understood by any of us today, because when you find out that they are not going to ever be with you again, you will miss them.
It is not until the end of the thousand-year reign of the Lord Jesus Christ on this planet, not until we walk into eternity after He makes all things new, that He will wipe away all tears from our eyes. Then we will understand, and accept fully His will, and their choice. But today is a good day to start contemplating that imaginary wall, for each and every one of us is going to know someone whose name will not be written there.
“And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.” (Rev. 20:12)
If you have been born again your name is in that book of life, it can never be removed.
Every opportunity you have my friends to speak to those you love, as well as to those you do not, you must take. Once the door is closed, it will not be opened again.
