Out of sin can come blessings. If we repent.
“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?” (Romans 6:1-2)
The opportunity to sin will be available to us until the moment we take our last breath here, we will sin, we will fall to temptation, we will willingly and with full intent go against the will of God for us in this life.
“If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” (1st John 1:8)
Most of those sins, I would hope, for each of us who are hid in Christ will occur only in our thoughts, for it is impossible for us, even while we are being sanctified, to keep every thought captive for Christ. In our actions it is impossible to do all we do for the glory of God. Attempting to though is the path that has been set before us, for we have been commanded to be holy.
When we sin, and repent of those sins, blessings will enter into our lives, for the Almighty recognizes effort when it is directed towards His glory.
“For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.” (Romans 7:19)
The recognition that all sin in our lives is first and foremost against our Father in heaven must always be at the forefront of our minds, the recipient of our sin, those that it has affected, either others or ourselves, must be secondary. You cannot grieve with a broken and contrite heart my friends if other people, or even yourself, are your first concern because of your sin.
Sin teaches us this truth.
Many people like to say that sin causes us to lose fellowship with the Lord, but we who have been born again, who are hid in Christ cannot lose fellowship with Him, but we can hinder any further accumulation of blessings from Him. You do not reward the child who knows that he has done wrong and will not admit it.
“But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out.” (Numb. 32:23)
It will be found out because the Holy Spirit will reveal it to you, and if you refuse to hear Him, repent of it, and admit your sin, you will be chastised. And that perhaps harshly.
How long we have to repent, I do not know, but I do know that many people believe it will mean the loss of materialistic goods here, of health, perhaps the loss of those we hold dear to our hearts. That may be so, the Lord knows full well how to deal individually with each of us. But you must consider this as well, it may not mean that at all, but instead a loss of any rewards or crowns heretofore earned by us.
This I know as a fact, for it happened in my life.
But the recognition of all that has been written here for you, His mercy upon me that allowed me to start over, from square one, as they say, is because, in part, I was used as your example, along with perhaps others you have met or read about that would not repent.
Until that broken and contrite heart exposes itself to Him.
There is an incredible blessing that arrives after sin is repented of, and while we should not intentionally sin to receive those blessings, there is really no other way to receive them.
“Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.” (Job 42:6)
Even after we have been saved by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, we place ourselves into that pit of sin, intentionally and willingly. He will not drag you out of it, but He will reach down His hand to help you out.
You are responsible to reach up and grab it.
