“And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.” (Rev. 12:4)
Tens of billions of people over thousands of years, a third of the angels who were actually in the presence of the Living God, all of those who have denied Him as Sovereign will spend eternity in the Lake of Fire. Why have so many decided to rebel against the Living God, what is it about the One who rules on high, in heaven and earth, that so many people hate, why have they rejected His authority?
I would ask you to contemplate something here that will not answer these questions in full but will hopefully assist you in understanding your own rebellion against the Almighty, and yes, we all still possess that trait within us, while detesting it when it arrives in our lives. Adam had the ability to sin within him when the Lord formed him from the dust of the ground, only two commandments were placed upon him, tend the garden and do not eat of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” (1st Cor. 10:13)
The question is this then, did Adam look upon that fruit as he tended the garden in temptation and then reject that temptation out of a love for his Creator or because he was commanded not to? If out of love, then it can only be presumed that when he harkened to the voice of his wife he sinned immediately, before even eating that fruit, because his main focus of love was transferred from the Lord to his wife. If only because of obedience, because of the commandment that was placed upon him, then the sin was not committed until he took that first bite.
Eve’s eyes were opened before her husband’s. She spoke the words to him that are not revealed to us in the Scriptures as one who had sinned, as one, if you will, who had fallen from grace. In either case, both of them were created with the ability to sin, both before the fall had the gift of free will.
Why, with all the world under his dominion, would he decide not to obey the commandment, why, with the knowledge that the Sovereign Lord of all creation is Ruler in both heaven and earth would Satan rebel, why, since man has been given free will, do nearly all throughout the centuries rebel against Him who sits on the throne of eternity. Why does free will deny the Almighty?
Free will desires no master but self, and will rebel against any form of authority that comes up against it. To be transformed by the renewing of your mind means this first, you do not have as much free will as you suppose yourself to have, because God only is Sovereign. John 14:15 is perhaps one of the most complex and at the same time simplest verses in the Scriptures, “If ye love me, keep my commandments.”
Did Lucifer ever love the Almighty? Did Adam transfer his love of the Lord to his wife, placing her above Him, or did he simply desire more? Do you serve out of love or because you are commanded to?
You can obey without loving, but you cannot help but to obey if you love.
The chaff is being separated from the wheat, most will be left behind at the Rapture, they will know the truth of these words on that day. I pray that you will see the truth of them today.
