“My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.” (James 3:1)
I understand two things about this verse, that I was called to do what I have been doing for almost three years now, and that many who believe they have been called have not.
I never desired to make videos or write letters, the day that it entered into my mind was the first day that I can recall ever even thinking about it. This is how the Holy Spirit has decided to use me for the glory of God in these letters and in the videos, it is both a joy and a very heavy burden upon my soul, for one thing always arises in my mind when I start a new video or sit here to write a letter to you, God must be glorified. I must be shown the truth or there is no reason for me to even attempt to do either.
“Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” (John 17:17)
There is a third item I realize about this calling, this path that He has laid before me, I am not worthy of it. He should have, in my opinion, picked someone who has some type of background in film production and linguistics, someone who could do a much better job than I do, but He is wise, and I am the servant of the Lord, and so in the way He leads I follow.
Not so with many who claim to be teachers in these days.
A thorough search of any social media site will show the truth of those words to the one who has been blessed with Spiritual discernment, false prophets fill the horizon today. “I have been given a word from the Lord.” “The Lord has given me a vision, a dream.” “On this date at this time,” “Twelve days from today.” These prestidigitators, these prophets of falsehood abound in every area, and my friends, if you cannot tell the truth from a lie, if you have not earnestly and regularly prayed to be able to discern the good from the evil, the false teachers will deceive you, draw you off the path, and at least for a time make your witness for the Lord Jesus Christ unprofitable.
The standard bearers of these falsehoods have always been with us, from Romanism to the charismatic movement, from Mormons to Jehovah’s Witnesses, they have laid their claim to the destruction of hundreds of millions of souls, but in these days of the beginning of sorrows, they are coming out of the woodwork in droves, and the simple minded are being drawn away from the truth.
I personally believe that most pastors in Evangelical churches were not called by God to stand behind the pulpit, I believe that when they were young men they thought they were, but they were led by their heart, and “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” (Jer. 17:9) They meant well, but they listened more to their emotions than the Holy Spirit.
But, as most of them do, they worked their way into the position, two years of Bible college, children’s or young people’s ministry, youth leader, assistant pastor, then pastor of their own church. Learning the ropes, so to speak, instead of being called by the Almighty.
How does one know for sure that they are being called into the ministry, to be a pastor, teacher, or in any other leadership role? They will do all they can to deny that calling from the Lord, they will give numerous excuses to Him, just like Moses did. And then they will be convicted, stop resisting, pick up their pen and start writing, or stand on a street corner and start preaching.
The greater condemnation is always in the forefront of their mind, they cannot be wrong, to dishonor the Lord is their greatest fear. If He calls you, you will know these truths.
