“And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.” (Matt. 14:26)
“Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.” (John 1:50)
“Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.” (Exodus 22:18)
Many of the days of the Scriptures are what some would consider times of manifold supernatural events, disturbing psychic occurrences, the things of horror movies. Why would those in the boat that night think it was a spirit walking on the water unless they had seen such an apparition before. Superstitious nonsense, the things of dreams, tales of drunken fools believed by the simple minded? Why was Nathanael so easily impressed by our Lord when He said He saw him sitting under a tree? Could only the Messiah do that?
“And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.” (2nd Kings 17:17)
No one is going to do that unless there is verifiable evidence that they are going to receive something of greater value for themselves.
Everyday occurrences altered by unexplainable events always entices fools, simple minded folk who need proof, visual, materialistic proof of something more than what is considered natural. The Romanist bleeding statues, speaking in tongues, handling snakes, prosperity theology, an uplifting emotional event, nothing changes.
The little girl that followed Paul around had the ability to do things that normal people could not do, until Paul freed her by the power of the Holy Spirit and drew the ire of those who used her for their own profit.
“Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.” (Acts 19:19)
Those books did something, and I can pretty much guarantee that not all of them were tossed into the fire that day.
The spirit of man can conceive much, left to our imaginations there is very little that we cannot manufacture in our minds. But not even the best of us in this area can hold a candle to what happens in the Spiritual realm, and more often than people will admit, the Spiritual realm influences those who live on this planet.
The more seemingly real the deceit, the more people that will be deceived. We just went through that with the supposed pandemic, remember?
“And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?” (Rev. 13:4)
Are we still supposed to kill witches, or was that part of the Law?
But there are no such things anymore, are there? No, not in this enlightened age, not in this age of great technological advances, those were nothing more than fanciful stories made up by subtle minds meant to bring the easily deceived into some form of bondage, solely for the purpose of personal gain by those knew how to do magic tricks. There are only deceivers, talented magicians who have learned their craft well.
I think they call those who fall for such nonsense gullible, right?
UFO’s, the Loch Ness monster, bigfoot, apparitions in the dark, all figments of the imagination. There’s no such entity as Satan, angels are only the construct of the weaker minded, the Spiritual realm is no more real than the truth of our dreams.
“But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.” (2nd Tim. 3:13)
Keep your heart fixed on the Lord Jesus Christ, stand firm on the Rock of your salvation, the truth of Matthew 24:24 is happening and will only increase as the days pass by.
“For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”
