How many more signs do you need, how many more portents of doom, encouraging dreams and visions, how much longer will you need to be drug along, is there some special sign, some intensely revealing dream that you are waiting for. And then what, the rapture? What if it does not occur on your timeline, what happens when the signs aren’t as prevalent, if the dreams stop coming?
One of the things I miss about the vacations my lovely wife and I use to take is waking up in the morning and hearing all the traffic on the roads, being refreshed in the cool morning air, knowing that in a few minutes we would be back on that road, traveling to our destination. Those days are over for us, for we will not wear the mask or take the vaccine, but that does not mean that the journey is complete yet.
I believe that the Lord will be removing much more than the minor things that make up a life here, many things that we once took for granted will be gone, because at least for those who live in the faith of Jesus Christ, the less we have, the more we rely on Him. “Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God, until that he have mercy upon us.” (Psalm 123:2) Those who need the next sign will always need the next sign, the next revelation, and they will cease to serve as they should be doing, they will continue to look for proof, when they already have all the proof they need, their salvation.
Whether most of those individuals realize it or not, they have become caught in a trap, one that takes their eyes off of the prize that is Christ and puts it on a singular point in time instead, and I feel sorry for them. I will not presume or deny their salvation, that is not the issue, the topic is their continued profitability, for if indeed they were profitable for the kingdom before they “switched paths,” as it were, they now believe themselves prophets, they see themselves as the ones responsible to tell the world of the approach of the Lord. There is one main problem here, the need for more faith through proof, and it is a serious problem indeed when “The just shall live by faith.” (Romans 1:17)
How many times does the Lord need to prove Himself, His love for us? Once, and that was at the cross. How many times do we need to be encouraged, that depends on how much trust you have in the One who came to show that proof of love to us. Most generally, that encouragement comes to those who are in dire straits, those who for whatever reason, the Lord has decided to leave in that dry and thirsty land (Psalm 63:1) for an extended period of time, and when He allows that time to linger, many will start looking elsewhere for Him, instead of to Him.
I would ask you this, pick a war, any war that has occurred since Pentecost, and then ask yourself, I wonder how many people were having “dreams and visions” of the Lord’s “imminent return” during the days of those hardships, and then wonder this, how many of those not only continued in the faith, but grew in it, as they grew older, as the Lord did not return, how many of them were just.
There are people in the Middle East that are having dreams, they have been having them for over a decade now, and nearly every one of them is identical, they dream of a man who tells them to go to a certain place, and that man will lead them to the Savior. They are not dreams and visions of possible future events, they are coming to those who are seeking for the truth, and they are finding the truth in the Lord Jesus Christ. “But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.” (2 Tim. 3:13) “And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.” (Matt. 24:11)
The days are sure my friends, if you are looking for signs, they are already here, stop continuously searching for more, if you are relying on dreams, stop, and get back to the work of reaching people for the Lord, before the nightmare begins.
