I handwrite these letters on a one subject notebook that has twenty-seven lines per side, using both sides of the paper. The letters are always completed when I reach the other side of the paper at the bottom of the page, fifty-four lines. And I have not once attempted to do that on purpose.
The Holy Spirit guides my thoughts as well as my hand, He has proven Himself in this fact in every letter.
After my lovely wife types them for me, they are discarded into the trash bin, there are no tangible records of them, save for on the internet. If it goes away for whatever reason, and one day it will my friends, there will be no record of the work that has been set before me.
These letters to you receive about twelve thousand views each year, about what some other Christian content creators achieve in one hour, but there is one significant difference between most of them and what I have been called to do, and I say that with this verse in mind.
“Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.” (Romans 14:4)
Nearly every content creator that receives many thousands of views for each of their videos, those whom I believe to truly be born again, start each of their videos with something from the world, usually that which is being presented by the secular world as important at that time. And almost every time my friends, it is news that is disparaging, even disconcerting.
These men of God, which is truly what I believe many of them are, will use that newsworthy event of the moment to draw people towards their videos, it is called a bait and switch by the industry, and it works quite well. These creators would not call it an afterthought, that of bringing Christ into their video after several minutes, their intent is in their minds justifiable, but I have yet to watch even one of their offerings over the last few years where the initial offering, the opening of their video, has anything at all to do with our Savior, our Father in heaven, the Holy Spirit or the Holy Scriptures.
If their videos have taught me one important lesson, it is that people generally want to hear bad news, something detrimental in some form about someone else, the latest disparaging current event, and subsequently Christ is perhaps not an afterthought, but is rarely first in their minds.
There is one other item I have noticed, there is rarely, if ever, any personal accountability towards the viewers of their videos, it is almost always about someone else.
I admit that at times it is necessary to bring parts of this evil world into view in these letters to you, but if there is one main difference in them from those mentioned above, it is this. In some way, shape or form, they are about you, not them.
They must be this way for one singular reason, you are accountable for you, the Almighty on your day of accounting is going to question you about you, not them. And my friends, it is always so much easier to look at others and find faults than it is to accept and do something about those faults in ourselves.
The point is to edify, to build-up, to convict by the Holy Spirit, not to bring the world into the Kingdom of the Most High God.
Be careful of what you put before your eyes.
