Standing Against Evil

“The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.” (Prov. 8:13)

If you are going to stand for Christ, you must stand against evil. This does not mean speaking in hushed tones about the ever-growing unrighteousness across the planet, and then only to those you implicitly trust. It does not mean listening to a sermon that reveals the evil and hearing only but not acting.

There is only one thing that holds back people from speaking up against these sins, it is not wanting to not seem impolite, of possibly offending, of being ostracized or ridiculed, it is fear, personal fear of being held accountable for what one believes to be the truth.

“But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.” (James 5:12)

I am going to offer you some truth here, and I pray you hear it, the Holy Spirit is the only One that can hider evil, and the Holy Spirit, if you have been crucified with Christ, lives in you for that purpose.

“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.” (John 16:13)

There are only three possible reasons why you would not be standing for the truth, standing against unrighteousness. One is that you are, for selfish reasons, hindering the work He desires to do through you. Two would be because you fear something more than God, and three would be because you are not saved.

If you fear retributions from those in the world, you have not died to self, you fear the loss of your possessions, your freedoms, your life, and Philippians 1:21 is not a truth to you.

I cannot comprehend someone saying they are saved and fearing something more than the Living God. “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” (Heb. 10:31) Do you not know that you will give an account to Him? Do you really believe that He is going to accept your excuse of being afraid? That He will simply look past your selfishness?

“The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.” (Prov. 15:3)

As believers we are not to go out into the world and look for unrighteousness, for the wicked, the reprobates and the brute beasts to correct them, we are searching for the lost amongst them, but when those who have determined to rebel against the Sovereignty of the Almighty are placed in our path, we are not to coddle them, we are not to shirk our responsibilities, ambassadors of the Kingdom of heaven do not run from contention when it appears.

The fear of the Lord is a reverential trust in His Holy name, and the hatred of evil, a direct contradiction to the lies of Satan today that we are to enable all in the path they have chosen, or we are not loving.

Love stands on the Rock that is Jesus Christ, love does not seek itself, it speaks truth, for love does not care for its own life.

“Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.” (Luke 23:34a)

As the darkness continues to envelope this world, your light should shine brighter, not be dimmed down the moment you step out of that church, not turned off in “present company.”

Let your flesh fear, you follow Christ.

You cannot stand for Christ if you are not standing against evil, it cannot be done, you cannot have one without the other. We who have been born-again were chosen by the Almighty to live in these days for a specific reason, to stand. Many will find that they were nothing but the chaff, that they were only professing Him with their lips.

If you are not prepared to suffer for Him, you are not prepared to live for Him.

2.    Your first responsibility is to the Lord; “Honor the LORD with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase”: (Prov. 3:9)

3.    You must consider your family after your first responsibility; “But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” (1st Tim. 5:8)
