There is nothing that the Almighty created that after He made it, He sat back to see what would happen.
“Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” (Rev. 4:11)
To even begin to be able to comprehend the complete Sovereignty of the Living God, one must understand this truth, God is in every place at all times.
The Lord’s creation of time does not bind Him in any way, it is our concept of time and space that must be altered in this regard, and because He is infinite and we are finite, that can be a difficult concept to grasp to say the least, and verses such as Revelation 1:8, and I mean this in no offensive way, does not make it any easier for us.
“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.”
As created beings we had a beginning, we existed in this sense only in the mind of God before we were conceived in the womb, we did not exist in what we call reality before that moment.
When the Lord said, “Let there be light: and there was light.” (Gen. 1:3) there was light that, as far as we are told, did not exist before that moment. God is at this very moment at that moment, no less than he is right now speaking with Moses at the burning bush that was not consumed.
At this very moment the Most High is in what we would call “the past” so far back that we could not conceive of the number, as well as so far into the future that our minds cannot comprehend the date. The Sovereign Lord of all is everywhere, all the time.
“If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.” (Psalm 139:8)
And I will add this uncomprehensible thought for your edification, the Almighty is in all things, yet constrained by none of them.
“And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.” (Col. 1:17)
What we have named “reality” my friends does not exist outside of God.
“As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations, before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.” (Romans 4:17)
Find a place for pride in these truths, it does not exist, in fact, and here we must tax our brains to the extreme, pride, lust, envy, joy, love, none of these would have existed if the Almighty had not brought them into being.
It was no surprise to the Lord when Lucifer rebelled, He did not expect him to, He knew he would. The Most High does not hope that someone will accept His offering of salvation by grace through faith, He knew, He has always known, because He is everywhere, all the time.
I will not interject here today whether or not He modifies our free will towards His will in this regard, there is not enough paper on the planet to place all the thoughts of man about the doctrine of election, we have free will and God is Sovereign, believe this truth.
In the life of God, as best as it can be called, at this moment He is parting the Red Sea, He is calling the child Samuel to Himself, He is walking in pain to the place of the Skull, He is creating angels and welcoming His chosen into His Kingdom.
Everything is happening, as best as our minds can conceive, at one time and all the time for the Lord God.
I rejoice in this knowledge, in two truths, that it is all new to me, and that He has chosen me, for His own reasons, to enjoy eternity with Him, and a trillion eons from now I will still be rejoicing.
The word “Sovereign” as it relates to the only One it can ever be placed upon, the Almighty, is a word I would highly suggest you contemplate at great length, it will make your head spin, as they say, but it will bring to you a realization of Him you may have never known before.
