“The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.” (Psalms 19:7)
There is one thing that you must always remember to do if you have been blessed with wisdom from the Almighty when you are speaking with someone.
Always talk to them, not down to them.
You will meet a lot of people that are much smarter, more knowledgeable about certain topics in this life than you, and many of them will want you to know that about them. Even if you know more, allow them to feed on their pride, for them it is a beast that must be fed continuously.
“Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.” (Phil. 2:3)
This is especially true when you are speaking to the simple minded, the weaker brother or sister in Christ, for they can be damaged quite easily. To correct them when they are wrong concerning a certain portion of the truths of the Word of God will many times, even though it is never intended as such, cause them to feel inadequate, even stupid, and that is never what we desire.
Subtlety, discretion, compassion and love for them is more powerful than your wisdom in these matters.
Not everyone my friends is called to be a master, but I personally believe, and I think the Scriptures reveal this truth, that all who are born again are in some way to be teachers.
“For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.” (Heb. 5:12)
Were those Paul was speaking to simple minded, weaker brothers, or fearful of reaching out to others?
Being wise in the things of this world will avail you nothing eternally, being wise in the ways of this world can only arrive in your life when you are blessed with wisdom from the Most High, and without that wisdom of how this world operates, there is a good possibility that you will succumb to it, and the wiles of the devil. Here is how, in part, we can assist those who have yet to understand these truths.
“The righteous man wisely considereth the house of the wicked: (Prov 21:12a)
We only have two enemies, our old sinful nature and Satan, him who rules for the time being this world. The first one you must seek within yourself to battle, the second is out there in the world, that world that lies in evil. And there is where those we are speaking about will stumble the most.
What you know as sin they may not recognize as such yet, what you know is an offence to the Living God they may not yet see as such. Correct them cautiously and always with the truths from the Word of God. You must be a teacher before you can be blessed to be a master my friends, if you want to be all things to all men, you must study all men, and that means whether they are still of and in this world, or your brother or sister in Christ.
I mean this in no disrespectful way, but you must treat them as if they are newborn babes, but you must also remember what Paul said, they should be by a certain time far past the milk of the Word. If you have been blessed with wisdom, you will know when that time is, no differently than Paul did when he wrote those words.
No one who is hid in Christ should ever be enabled, but we should also never expect them to walk on their own the first day they are saved by His grace through faith. But there must come a time, if it is necessary, to leave them to learn these truths for themselves.
Milk is wonderful, but no one grows to maturity in Christ just on the milk of the Word.
The simple minded can be taught, I know, I was once one of them.
