An emissive material in an object that does not reflect light but produces its own illumination. Think here on a ball if you will, let’s say a white one, in the sunlight it will of course look white to us, but when placed in a dark room, it is as unseen as any other object in that room. Outside it reflects the rays of the sun and looks white, inside there is no light, and so it is unknown to even exist. But if one places an emissive material upon it, a substance that glows, it will in itself light up that dark room.
“But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.” (Prov. 4:18) “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” (John 8:12)
We within ourselves do not glow with the light of the truth of Jesus Christ and all that He is, but we are to be reflectors of that light. How many people do you know that shine the light of Jesus Christ for all to see, and when you think of them, do you envision only that bright white light we have spoken of here, or each color of Christ’s character, so to speak. Many who claim to have a personal relationship with the Most High only show one color, love, care, compassion and concern, they are continuously friendly and polite, no matter who it is they are speaking to, no matter how much that person may dishonor the Lord of Glory with their words and actions, they will not offend by speaking truth. Those who exemplify Romans 3:18, “There is no fear of God before their eyes,” are treated with the same respect as those they would consider their brothers and sisters in Christ.
We are to show Jesus Christ to the world, we are those He has chosen to spread not only the good news of His truths to that lost, sinful wicked person in love, but in all truths. Whether it be because of embarrassment, a lack of true love for our neighbor, or simply because we do not want to be seen as possibly offensive or judgmental, many who call Jesus Christ Lord will not speak the entirety of His truths to people, they will not shine more and more unto that perfect day. They fear to attempt to place the fear of God before people. Whether it be those who are committing horrendous acts or those who simply have denied the Lord for whatever reason, you must understand this, not everyone is looking for love, not everyone wants to rest their head on the chest of Christ to feel love, to feel needed, safe and secure in His presence.
I have said these words countless times in my life, and they are worth repeating here in the context of this letter, we should always as ambassadors of the kingdom of God express love, care, compassion and concern to all we meet, no matter the circumstance, we are to love our enemies, (Matt. 5:44) and all those that deny the Sovereignty of the Lord God are at the same time our enemies and our neighbor, but when those four worthy attributes that we have been blessed by the Holy Spirit to offer unto those wicked people that come into our lives do not sway them, then the emissive light that we are to shine with is to change color. It is no less bright, it penetrates the darkness just as much as it did before, but now it offers the only alternative available to our enemy, pain.
Not caused by us, we are no more than the dust that those we are speaking to are, but pain in the truth of where they will spend eternity if they continue to be an enemy of the Almighty, the pain of eternal suffering upon all who will not acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord of Lords and King of Kings.
Here is that invisible line, so to speak, that many who claim Jesus Christ as Lord will not cross today, they will offer love, but only in part, they will not offer the consequences of denying Christ to those they say they love. For whatever reason they have deceived themselves with, they will not shine, much less shine brighter and brighter, and one must wonder if they are truly shining at all, or if they have just learned to see in the dark.
