Saved From, Saved To

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” (Eph. 2:10)

Ask, and most will say they were saved from their sins, few will say they were saved from the wrath of God, from the flames of eternal damnation, from unceasing pain, suffering and hopelessness. And my friends, even fewer will say what they were saved to.

Continual thanksgiving, praise unending, to be a vessel filled for His glory, one whom the Holy Spirit can use as He desires, to lift up the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to the glory of the Living God to all we meet. Without hesitation, without fear, without embarrassment, no matter the circumstances or the possible consequences to ourselves.

Being saved from was just the first step, being saved to will last much longer than just this lifetime, but will continue throughout all eternity.

“And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” (John 10:28)

We were saved from the second death; we are saved to eternal life.

Only those who have been hid in Christ understand and apply these truths in their lives, only those who are the righteousness of God in Christ pray to be used for His glory, to be profitable servants, to not stand ashamed before Him on our day of accounting, to fight the good fight until the battle is over. Against the desires of our flesh for the things of this world, against the wiles of the devil and the temptations placed before us. Towards a renewed mind, towards the truth by His strength and for His glory. Of 1st Corinthians 10:31,

“Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”

Contemplating who you were before Christ is profitable at times, it reminds us that even the sinners that we were can be saved by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, but remaining in that place where our thoughts revolve too often on what we were saved from can hinder that of what we were saved to.

We are not meant to remain at the cross, watching the blood shed for us fall to the ground, we are not meant to sit at an empty tomb in wonder and awe, rejoicing there forever in the truth that He is risen. We were meant to follow Him, to obey Him, to apply that which we are taught over this lifetime on the path, until we reach that strait gate.

“If ye love me, keep my commandments.” (John 14:15)

We are the sheep of His pasture; we hear His voice and we follow where He leads.

If the opportunity arises, and someone you meet mentions to you that they were saved from their sins, ask them “And from what else?” Listen to their answer, and if they do not offer anything further after that, ask them what they were saved to. A minor test, if you will, not for your information, but to assist them, if they are not one who only professes Him with their lips, in furthering their growth in the grace and knowledge of the Lord.

To help them not only to understand that they were not just saved from, but saved to.

A simple writer of letters that comparatively receives very few views, but I know for a fact that in this last part of my life here, on this part of the path where the gate is in sight, I know it is what I have been called to do.

Recall on occasion what you have been saved from, see in the imagination of your mind those who today are walking in hell and give the Almighty glory for His incredible mercy upon you. And then pray without ceasing for Him to reveal to you what you were saved to.

There are several items I would ask you to consider before you click on the Donate button.

1.    Please pray carefully about donating; “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” (2nd Cor. 9:7)

2.    Your first responsibility is to the Lord; “Honor the LORD with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase”: (Prov. 3:9)

3.    You must consider your family after your first responsibility; “But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” (1st Tim. 5:8)

4.    If you determine that you have been blessed by this ministry and decide to donate, please know this, your donations will be accepted with great thanks, and all the glory will go to God.
