“Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.” (Janes 4:14)
In relation to the world and the workings of it, and as some might call it, the forward progress of it, of what value has your life been?
The creation of something new to assist in the betterment of life, of the ability to not have to toil and sweat for our sustenance, technological advancements that enable more moments of rest are portrayed as the goal for all mankind, all to a degree so that we do not need to continuously tend the garden and can instead seek for other desires.
“It takes all of us” is the banner flown by the world today.
I personally believe that in the beginning of the Tribulation that “The Age of Man” will be the standard flown.
“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” (Micah 6:8)
Your purpose in life my friend, what is it? Does it revolve around ensuring that this world is a better place to live for those who will come after you, trying to make it so that your children do not need to struggle as much, toil as much, work as hard as you have, so that they have more time to do what?
This is the path that our adversary is leading the brute beasts down, working towards the goal of not needing to obtain what they desire by the sweat of their brow.
“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.” (2nd Peter 3:10)
If you were to create transparent aluminum, a source of renewable energy that was not just inexpensive, but free, if you were to be the one who taught the entire planet how to obtain that elusive net zero goal, your name in time would be nothing but a remembrance in the history books.
“I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.” (Luke 15:7)
And everything you have accomplished would still be melted in that fervent heat.
Look deeply inside yourself and ask this question, what honestly is the purpose of your life? Can you truly say that it is for the glory of God, is your life lived for eternal purposes, or is the majority of it spent for the temporal? Is your desire to tend the garden or to wait patiently for the cool of the day, waiting to hear the footsteps of the Lord approaching?
“By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.” (Heb. 11:4)
Where are your treasures laid up at, what rewards are you seeking for, what in all reality and truth is the pursuit of your life?
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matt. 6:33)
What things are you hoping will be added to you, houses, vehicles, the accolades of those who will attend your funeral, a place in the history books of man, or your name in the hall of faith?
A better place for your children to live their lives out in, or an eternal home in the presence of the Lamb of God?
We are vapors that are here and then gone, and not one thing we do outside of the glory of God will be considered by Him to whom you will give your account to.
The world is proclaiming that if we do not all pull together that the world will cease to exist, it is the lie that is pulling many into a bondage they cannot see or imagine. What honestly is your purpose in life, to find a way to make life easier for yourself and those who will come after you, or to seek the face of God and the fellowship of the suffering of the Lord Jesus Christ?
Are you trying to change the world, or the hearts of those you meet?
Everything that Satan does is for the temporal, everything that we do is to be done with eternity in mind, and for the glory of God.
