Represent Your King

“Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.” (Jer. 17:5)

I personally do not believe that a pastor should make any part of his sermon a political view, the mayor, congressman, not even the leader of the nation should be allowed to stand behind the pulpit and address the congregation.

I also do not believe that a church that professes to serve the Lord Jesus Christ to the glory of God should have a flag in the building, not of their nation or any other type.

“For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:” (Phil. 3:20)

We are a sanctified people, a set apart people, people with opinions as varied as all the nations on this planet, but our service is to the Living God first and foremost. We are to be aware of what is occurring in the nation we live in, and when necessary, speak up about the evils of it as well as give honor to whom honor is due, but it does not matter what nation you live in, it will never become a Theocratic nation, this is Satan’s world for the time being.

“This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.” (Daniel 4:17)

To bring the affairs of the world into a house of worship is, and I believe this to be the truth, a very serious mistake, for what that congregation is attempting to do is to change, or at least alter, the path they are to be on. The way to the strait gate my friends does not go through this world. We live in it, we abide by its rules unless they go directly against the Word of God, but we are not to be a part of it.

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” (Romans 12:2)

I know that some of you will disagree with this short letter, that you hold in your heart a special place for the nation you live in, or at least for what it once stood for, but this is not your home, and to hold that emotion in your heart is to go against Colossians 3:2.

“Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.”

When the Lord rode into Jerusalem that day, when they placed palm leaves and even their outer garments on the path, many were expecting the Kingdom of God to appear in the form that the Roman dominance of the land would be overthrown. They did not understand any better than those whose loyalty is divided in the churches that fly their nation’s flag, that invites politicians to speak, that hear sermons referencing the world more than the truths of the Scriptures expounded upon.

As I said, a difficult topic for many, for we have all been trained from a very young age to believe the nation we live in is the best nation, but it takes very little research to see that not one of them honors the Almighty.

“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:” (1st Peter 2:9)

There is no such thing as a “Christian” flag, and if there is, it should not exist. Faith is our flag, faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, our King, we honor Him by always placing Him first, we serve the Kingdom of the Most High God, we do not share our affections with any nation. We are ambassadors from heaven, for heaven, going to heaven, our hope can find no resting place outside of heaven.

Again, as I said, I know some of you will not agree with these truths, loyalty was breed into us from our youth for the nation we live in, and it is nearly continuously fed to us in numerous ways, but whether you are in church or outside of it, you must remember, this is not your home, you are no longer a representative of the nation you live in, but of the Kingdom of the Most High God.

Represent your King the same way your Savior did.

2.    Your first responsibility is to the Lord; “Honor the LORD with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase”: (Prov. 3:9)

3.    You must consider your family after your first responsibility; “But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” (1st Tim. 5:8)

4.    If you determine that you have been blessed by this ministry and decide to donate, please know this, your donations will be accepted with great thanks, and all the glory will go to God.
