There seems to be quite a lot of talk lately about undisclosed surveillance systems that are going to be able to access all your personal information, far beyond your financial matters, but even within your personal likes and dislikes. In other words, for most people, that means everything on whatever electronic device you frequent.
What this says to me is that those people that do not want this have something to hide, things they want no one to know about.
“But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out.” (Numb. 32:23)
What they fear is leverage against them, what is usually called blackmail, and if something they do not want others to know about is threatened to be exposed, it may not be death they will fear, but the cessation of their life as they know it. And that fits perfectly with Job 2:4.
“And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.”
You have probably known this for some time, I pray that you have not become a part of it, but it is not a court of law that causes judgment to fall upon a person today many times, it is personal opinions. Facts have become unnecessary; perception is what matters today.
“If they find this out about me, my life will be ruined.”
Information about everyone seems to be the coin of the realm that our adversary is compiling for himself, and if people do not want certain facts, certain truths about themselves revealed, they will give all they have to keep those things secret.
“Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.” (John 7:24)
That appearance my friends means much more than just with your eyes, it means how you perceive a person with very little knowledge about their character. And many who sit in the pews of churches across the planet today are guilty of this.
In the area that my lovely wife and I currently live in, if you do not put a finger or two up when approaching a vehicle coming from the other direction, you are counted as unfriendly. If someone says to you, “How are you today,” and you do not reply with, “I’m good, how are you,” then you have not played the game properly and will be seen as disrespectful.
We are to be all things to all men while never compromising the foundation we stand upon, and for us who speak openly to others about our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and then ask them where they are in their faith, or the faith they presume to have, then we have just in their minds overstepped our boundaries. We have sought for information they deem of an extremely personal nature.
“But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:” (1st Peter 3:15)
A lot of words to make this one simple point, if you have nothing to hide, it makes no difference who knows what about you.
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matt. 5:16)
If someone found out about a wicked deed I have done in my past, my response would be quite simple. “You don’t know the half of it.”
Those who have been born again have been set free, though many of them refuse to accept this truth, from the guilt of past sins, the Son of the Living God has set us free from that terrible burden.
Whatever information is being collected about you, I pray this for you, that even in the most remote part of your past, there would be nothing that could be held against you. And I offer you this truth as well, this incredibly encouraging truth. All of it was nailed to the cross of your Savior.
If they try to hold something against you, point to Him. He has paid it all.
