God is omnipotent and omniscient, that means that He knows everything there is to know, there is absolutely nothing hidden from Him, from every planet in the universe, “He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.” (Psalm 147:4)
To the deepest thoughts of your heart. “I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.” (Jer. 17:10) The Almighty is everywhere at all times, and in all times. “Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.” (Psalm 90:2)
In every moment of the past, the present and the future, God is there, right now. My friends, we cannot with our created finite minds comprehend these truths, He is too big, too powerful, too large for us to begin to envision. That is why the word Sovereign belongs to the Most High, for He alone is worthy to bear it.
I ask you to consider this, the sins that you have yet to commit in this very short life of yours, God already knows about, and according to His Holy plan for you, He has already devised how you will be chastised for them. They have yet to be done in our lives, but in God’s world, if you will, they are not only being done right now, but are in the hands of His mercy and grace towards you. There is no such thing as past and future for the Lord, all is a continuing, present now.
But I also ask you to contemplate this, everyone of those sins Christ died for, “Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,” (Col. 2:20) Our thoughts of, “If I do this, then God will …” are feeble at best, He already has, if you have been crucified with Christ, then every sin you have yet to perform, that you are completely unaware of today, for we cannot see the future in that respect, has already been paid for.
“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” (2 Cor. 5:21) “As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.” (1 Peter 2:16)
There is the possibility that with this truth that we will begin to act flippantly, that we will take it for granted that because all has been forgiven so we can continue to live in sin, the price has been paid, we are free to do as we please. This is how Romanism treats grace, with their supposed sacraments and offerings of repentance to their false priest, the person is allowed to live as they desire, even in open rebellion, as long as they perform the rituals and traditions, God will forgive.
Satanic is the word that comes to mind for that cult of lies.
“For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.” (Romans 6:14) If we sin against the Lord after we have been born-again, we do so by our own free will and volition, it is by our choice, our conscience decision to do so. Those sins, if you have indeed been crucified with Christ, were paid for by Him on the cross, they are not held to our account, but that does not make them any less our responsibility.
The wrath of God abides on the lost, His chastisement falls upon His children. “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” (Romans 8:1)
If you are living in open rebellion against the Lord by willfully sinning, then you are not saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, you are deceiving yourself. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9 does not mean living in sin and then repenting of it each day, or once a week, that is not repenting, that is attempting to use the grace that you believe you have as an excuse to live life as you please.
Here is where the one who has been born-again falls into the very subtle trap of Satan, some believe that by performing some work, some deed after they have sinned will appease God in His evaluation of how to chastise that sin, when the price has already been paid for it.
God is everywhere, all the time, in all times, He is in an ever present now, He not only knows the sins that you will commit against Him in the future, but He has already accepted the payment for them in the past, on the cross of Christ.
We are not looking for His grace and mercy, we already have received it. Live in the freedom of that grace. “Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:16)
