“Many will say to me in that day, LORD, LORD, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?” (Matt. 7:22) Have you given this verse any serious thought, the individuals that our Lord was speaking to had actually cast evil spirits out of the bodies of human beings just by the power of His name, but they were not born-again believers, they did not, nor will any who do the same, enter into the kingdom of heaven.
How does one use a tool that one has not been properly trained in, is the name of Jesus so powerful that the unsaved can use it to their advantage as they see fit at any time, does one need to be saved by the grace of God to wield the power of the Most Holy? These people didn’t, they cast out demons, they did miracles in His name, yet not by faith in Christ. Herein is the belief structure of far too many on this planet who claim to know God, who profess Jesus is Lord with their lips, but not with their hearts, the proof was shown by our Lord, there are miracles occurring by people who are not born-again believers.
Many believe today that the most important verse in the Bible, the proof of their salvation, is Hebrews 10:25 “Forsake not the assembling,” they are inferring a relationship with Christ that they do not truly have, not one contemplative thought, not one page of the Scriptures is opened by them throughout the week, and they still have the audacity to call themselves children of the Most High. They are casting out demons and performing miracles but have absolutely no faith whatsoever in the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior. How is this possible? “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11)
When these incidences occur, it is not the reputation of the individual that is on the line, although that is what they are hoping to accomplish, it is the name of the Lord Jesus, the name that is above all other names. Did Moses part the Red Sea, or did God, was it faith that sent David to the battlefield, or the power of the Most High, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me,” (Phil 4:13) but apparently some things can be done by sinful, lost wicked people by the power of His name. The name that most people take so lightly is the only name that matters, and in that name is great power, something most believers, true believers mind you, have completely forgotten. They do not realize the incredible power that resides within them, they no longer believe they can cast mountains into the deep sea, (Mark 11:23) they have believed the lies that all of these accounts are no more than analogies, idealized sayings that infer a different meaning. To them grace means nothing more than patient anticipation, confidence in the assurance of their salvation is merited only by feelings, by emotions, works are not to be strived for, the work has been done on the cross, all they need to do is sing the songs, put a little money in the plate, and go and live life to the fullest they possibly can.
Unsaved, wicked evil people cast out demons from the pit of hell in His name, and these so-called Christians walk around with their heads held high when they have absolutely no proof of their salvation, when they could not cast a pebble much less a mountain by faith. If your actions are the same as your neighbors, if your words are the same as your neighbors, then exactly how is it that you are exhibiting this so-called faith you claim to have, is one of your favorite verses “do these things in secret?” (John 7:4) Is that how you manage to get yourself to believe the proof of your salvation, how exactly does that work when “They may see your good works” (Matt. 5:16) comes into the equation? Just because you have done a miracle does not mean that you are saved, not by words, these are the words of the Creator, but what works can you show that have been done through you, what heart within you that has been and is being shown to the world gives you the assurance of your salvation, how can you prove to others that you are of the kingdom of God?
A very deep, personal question, perhaps the most important question you have ever been asked, and it would be wise to have a very specific answer for it, your soul is on the line.
