“That you would be glorified.”
That is what I say in my mind before each one of these letters, I do not say it in the morning when I wake up, nor when I lay my head down at night. And rarely do those words cross my mind during the day. Only before each letter, and at the beginning of each video on the Borrowed Truths YouTube channel.
“Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth.” (Psalm 57:11)
When trials and tribulations, pain, undesirable events occur in my life, after the initial whining and complaining, and unfortunately, depending on what it is, a few choice curse words, what comes to my mind is “Thy will be done.”
I know we are to pray, and each of us who have been born again finds sometime during the day to pray to our Father in heaven, but I believe it is those moments of just a few quick words that He appreciates just as much. We’re not really asking anything for ourselves, not speaking or attempting to intercede for others, we’re not even actually praising Him for anything in particular. We are simply just recognizing that He is Lord and Master over our lives and thanking Him for being so.
“Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.” (John 6:68)
Walking beside Him, being led by Him, following Him, that is what we are to be doing, but sometimes I think He enjoys it when we simply recognize His existence in our lives, sort of like just saying, “I’m glad you’re here.”
I do not know if this will make any sense to you, the Lord after all is the Sovereign creator of all that is, completely and totally in control of everything, but have you ever just asked Him how He’s doing?
Those who thirst and hunger for righteousness can only do so by seeing unrighteousness, those who hate evil must be able to recognize it. Those who can see the sin and rebellion of mankind against our Holy and righteous God, all of us who know and witness these things must remember this.
He sees all of it.
“And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.” (Gen. 6:6)
“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!” (Matt. 23:37)
Sadness beyond our comprehension, sorrow, pity, grieving that we could never attain to.
A heart that desires that all should come to repentance, yet knowing most will not.
It isn’t that the Lord of Glory needs someone to talk to about all that He feels in this regard, but I do not know if a greater love sometimes can be expressed to Him than simply letting Him know that we care how He feels about all that is written here.
I know all of that doesn’t make much sense, but if we are to love one another, and if we are to love the Lord our God, then it would seem right every once in a while to let Him know that we care about the suffering He goes through.
I guess you have to look at it this way, when He casts that untold number of souls into the Lake of Fire at the Great White Throne of Judgment, will there be anger on His face, or tears running down it.
Just recognize Him once in a while, tell Him you love Him, and if it makes sense to you, tell Him you care about Him as well.
We cannot begin to imagine what He goes through every day, and since Satan said, “I will.”
A strange thought for you my friends. Oceans of tears have come from our God.
