If you believe that you should be doing something for Christ, it would be a good idea to get started on it. If you have felt compelled, if you have known the prompting of the Holy Spirit and have been neglecting Him, now would be a good time to start acting upon those items. Today you have an opportunity, tomorrow it may be gone, our lives are like the flowers of the field, (Psalm 103:15) a truth that sadly only the elderly seem to be able to grasp, and although only Almighty God knows the hour, we have been blessed with the ability to see the signs of His return.
In times of plenty, few men seek His face, when things become difficult, they turn to Him, but the Scriptures are clear, wisdom cries at the gate, (Prov. 8:3) and those who will not heed that call will be laughed at when their troubles appear. (Prov. 1:26) When Christ comes back for His church there will be no warning call, it will be immediate, in the twinkling of an eye, (1 Cor. 15:52) there is no revival spoken of in the Scriptures before the great and terrible day of the Lord begins, (Joel 2:31) in fact, just the opposite is promised, a great falling away will be present, (2 Thess. 2:3) we have been witnessing this for many years now. Our Lord is patient, but this day will appear, those who will not see the signs may as well repeat with the heathen, “Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.” (2 Peter 3:4)
But there is another side to this coin, for many will do nothing more than speak of His approach, they will be consumed by nothing else, and those also are in error, although not as great as the first group of individuals, for they will forget their first calling. We are to occupy until His return, (Luke 19:13) we are not to be driven like the waves of the sea, (James 1:6) and these times will do that to many who know Him as Lord. Let the doomsday prophets and the conspiracy theorist have that charge, unless you are specifically called by Christ to warn others of His coming and nothing else, continue to do as you have been called to do, glorify God, encourage the brethren, convict all who will listen with His Word.
Do not hold back what you know to be the truth of what He has shown you in these days, His hand is quite clear, but do not let these times keep you from what you have been commanded to accomplish for His kingdom, you have a responsibility to perform what He has blessed you to perform, do not desire to carry more crosses and let those that you know for a fact that He has laid upon you go by the wayside, such is one of the deceits of Satan, he is a master of diversion.
“When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.” (Deut. 18:22) You know two things for a fact already, redemption and the resurrection of Jesus Christ, speak boldly about them to all that will listen, but in these days those individuals are becoming fewer and further apart. There is a great, unwarranted fear sweeping across the face of the planet, Satan is the father of lies (John 8:44) but we have been blessed with a sound mind. (2 Tim. 1:7) Not only is it not time to fear, it is never time to fear, for He has promised to those who call Him Lord to never leave us or forsake us, (Deut. 31:8) but we are to be wise as serpents, (Matt. 10:16) we are to continuously remember that everything that happens to us happens for good, (Romans 8:28) and we are to stand, (Eph. 6:13) we are always to stand.
Daniel’s three friends had plenty of time to think and pray about their decision before they approached the obelisk of Nebuchadnezzar, (Dan. 3:20) Daniel himself knew of his fate in the lion’s den, yet he did not stop seeking the face of God, (Dan. 6:10) we are being given time to make up our minds what we will do if and when the Lord sees fit to put us in similar circumstances, time to pray and seek His face and comfort for an unknown future. The time has come to quit you like men, (1 Sam. 4:9) the time has arrived to purpose in your heart who you will serve. “He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.” (John 12:25) Are you ready?
