“And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:” (Heb. 6:11)
“And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” (John 10:28)
A question must be asked here, a very serious question to either you or someone you know who professes to live for the glory of the Most High. If anyone who claims to be born-again, even performing zealous works for the glory of God, who lives their lives to lift up the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to all they meet believes they can lose their salvation or in some manner have it removed from them, have they truly been crucified with Christ?
If anyone believes that some work is required to add to the shed blood of Christ to attain salvation, or that to maintain salvation they must continue in good works or it will be removed, are they honestly members of the body of Christ, or are they deceived?
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Eph. 2:8-9)
James asks “What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?” (James 2:14)
In the foundation of truth the preceding verse answers that question, it is grace that saves us through faith given to us by the Lord God Himself.
As I stated, this is a very serious question indeed, for many who profess to serve the Almighty, and by their works reveal a heart for Him, even diligently seeking His face and performing all manner of other actions that could be considered fruits of the Spirit that deny the assurance of their salvation, claiming they are saved, but needing to continue in those works, even works they and others who meet them would consider righteous works, or they will lose that which they profess to have.
“All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.” (John 6:37)
This is not the cult of Romanism I bring before you here today in this short letter, that organization of lies that has taught for centuries that our Savior’s shed blood was not enough, that His sacrifice in and of itself was insufficient to appease the wrath of the Almighty and free us from the power of sin, but these I speak of sit in God-fearing churches, yet believe the same as that den of liars.
And so the question remains, can one seems to be righteous who fulfills the Law of Christ, who lives for the glory of God be called one who has been born-again if that person believes without a doubt that it is possible for them to lose their salvation, to have it taken away if they commit certain sins, if they stray off the path they believe that only works can keep them on?
“For many are called, but few are chosen.” (Matt. 22:14)
“Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” (Matt. 7:14)
No, they are not our brothers and sisters in Christ, no matter how much we would like to believe so, no matter how holy and righteous their lives seem to be, for they have denied the shed blood as sufficient for their salvation, they have placed some form of works before the offering of the grace of God.
They believe they must not only perform some deed but continue in these works or they will be cast out.
“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.” (1st Peter 2:24)
It is not us that holds the security of our salvation secure, it is the Lord Jesus Christ, those who have been crucified are part of His body, and He will not deny Himself. We are secure eternally in His hands because of Him, because of the grace of God.
“If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.” (2nd Tim. 2:13)
“But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.” (Isaiah 64:6)
“There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.” (Romans 3:11)
We do not have to endure to the end, our end has already been established.
Study grace, learn of His grace, and you will come to the realization that He will never leave you or forsake you because of His grace.
