Not By Love

“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;” (Titus 3:5)

If everyone loved the Lord our God with all their heart, soul, mind and strength on this planet, if every single person alive loved their neighbor as themselves, there would still be sin.

If Satan and every angel that was cast out of heaven with him were placed in hell and every possible influence of them was removed from mankind, there would still be sin.

Love does not remove sin, love paid the penalty for sin, we are not saved by love, we are saved because of love.

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:” (Eph. 2:8)

The free gift of salvation is not by love, but because of love, you cannot love the Almighty enough for Him to save your soul from His eternal wrath, but He has offered His love to all who will accept it, because of His love.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

The gift of grace that brings salvation is not given because we stop sinning, that is not possible.

“If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” (1st John 1:8)

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

No man seeks for God before the knowledge of His love is offered.

“There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.” (Romans 3:11)

Even if a person loves their neighbor, holds no ill will towards anyone for anything, even if they attempt to live their entire life serving others with no thought to themselves, if every work they do seems selfless, if they esteem others above themselves, if they believe love is the answer to all the world’s woes and problems, love will not save their soul.

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” (Romans 10:9)

No one is saved in any other way than by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

By grace, not love.

“We love him, because he first loved us.” (1st John 4:19)

This is perhaps the most important message in the entire Word of God, yet it is the most misinterpreted, the most misaligned by our adversary, the most deceptive lie of every works-based religious organization that has ever been invented. You must love the Most High they say before He will love you, and if you love Him enough, if you love your fellow human beings to the point of self-sacrifice, if you do all within your power to never sin, if you try with all your might to be the best person you can possibly be, never offend, never reprove, never rebuke or correct, love all as they are, to be the best person you can be, then God will love you and accept you into His family.

If you can make yourself righteous, He will save you.

Everyone who believes these lies will hear, “Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:” (Matt. 25:41)

“For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:10)

The greatest lie is that love can save your soul from eternal damnation, the lie that love produced within ourselves without the love offered to us by His infinite mercies will be enough for us to be hid in Christ, this lie places no value whatsoever on the complete and total sufficiency of the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross, it makes it of no effect in the hearts and minds of those that have deceived themselves in this lie, that love can save them.

The Lord Jesus Christ’s first reason for going to the cross was not so that you could be saved, His first love was not for us, but for the Father, to be obedient to His will.

Our salvation in this regard, in this truth was a byproduct of His love, His obedience to the will of the Living God. The path to His eternal Kingdom was made in love, was made with His great suffering and sacrifice, not yours.

We are saved by grace through faith because of His love.
