“The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD.” (Prov. 15:8) “The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the LORD.” (Prov. 15:9) “The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD.” (Prov. 15:26)
The wicked are the lost, anyone who has not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord, whether they have committed murder or sit in the pew next to you each Sunday, whether it is a teenager who is a great son and incredible achiever, the man standing behind the pulpit, the elderly grandmother, the convicted rapist, they are the wicked and the wrath of God abides on them. Today’s Christians for the most part are guilty of not pointing these truths out to those who do not know Jesus Christ as Lord, these have become useless in the battle against evil. Fear of personal retribution, lack of love for Christ, this notion that is so prevalent today that we are to be concerned only with ourselves, all these and more have led to the current downfall of mankind, “Thus saith the Lord” is not heard in the church anymore, much less on the street corner.
“And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.” (1 Peter 4:8) But it does not cover them all, we were not saved by love, we were saved by grace, (Eph. 2:8) and there is no grace for the wicked until they come to the cross of Christ and repent. If you want to be hated by the world, if you want to leave all of it behind and seek for nothing more but the glory of God for the sake of God only, stand against wickedness. It is easy to do, simply search for someone who is not saved, explain to them the way to salvation, the only door by which any man will come to the Father, and if they refuse the invitation that you have given them in love but with firm truth, tell them that according to the Word of God they are wicked, that the wrath of God is abiding on them, and if they do not repent and turn to Christ, they will spend eternity in the lake of fire.
You will not find these truths in any books on how to win friends and influence people. But most will not do that, they will only at best inform them of His love, not the entirety of the story, the majority will not even do that, no words at all are spoken to the lost, it’s not their business, they don’t feel called to, they’re busy, in a hurry. What they are is weak willed, and in some cases pathetic, at best their own salvation should be questioned, “Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.” (Matt. 7:20) It is fear, that is what it is, fear and a lack of trust, a lack of faith, selfish, personal fear. “A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.” (Psalm 91:7)
The world is the determining factor for many who call Christ Lord today, the world and self-interest, self-preservation, not the Word and will of God. Many refuse to stand and then use love as an excuse, not as an action, they will set in their assigned seat in the pew, sing the songs, feel better about themselves, and then keep their mouth shut and their hearts closed the rest of the week. It is impossible to bring anyone to the knowledge of the saving grace of Jesus Christ without conviction in their heart for the sins against Him, no one comes to the Father but by the Son, by the Word and will of God. Therein is the problem, the greatest reason why most Christians are not soul winners any more, they fear to tell people that they are wicked in the eyes of God, that His wrath is abiding on them, of what is going to become of them throughout all of eternity if they do not repent.
Repent and the blood of Christ, two terms that are all but forgotten today. These who will not do so have forgotten themselves the price that was paid for them, and there will be a price required for that forgetfulness, that inaction. Why are so many so afraid to speak these truths today, what possible repercussions could compare to what they did to our Lord on that cross, how can so many stand down in the face of such wickedness and still consider themselves followers of Christ. This is both amazing and appalling to me, so many who call Him Lord and so few actions to back these statements up. “The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.” (Prov. 8:13)
Just where were you planning to use action with this verse, look around for a demon, complain about it in church, say to yourself again, “Somebody should do something about that,” while you go about your business of just living and let live. There are people being tortured and killed every day, every day, just for mentioning the name of Jesus Christ, strong, faithful servants who have died to self and serve no other purpose than to bring people to the foot of the cross, but most just sit on their backsides, maybe show up to church once in a while, and then complain about the wickedness of the world, believing themselves saved. Welcome to the beginning of the end my friends, enjoy the show.
