Those who are attempting to become the masters of this current age are those that many have desired to be like, rich, influential, powerful, and dare I say in the eyes of some, beautiful. They are the “movers and shakers,” they are the ones, for the most part, who have financial wherewithal, and so the desires and ideas that they have can be made into reality. The reality that they have chosen for themselves is world domination, and they will succeed through subterfuge and subtlety.
They have and will continue to use others who can benefit them, until their assistance is no longer required, we call them movie stars, media personalities, any who have been in the public eye that are lifted up by the general population for their talents and abilities. From sports stars past and present, to children who seem to have potential, they will employ all to use as powers of persuasion for their intended goal, and most will fall quite easily into this trap.
It is not always seen by all that the wicked are in power, for they have been blinded by the desire for that power themselves, vanity, jealousy, envy, these can be manipulated in ways that are beneficial to those who are the holders of power, simply by offering the same to those who will but follow them. It is the perpetual carrot on the stick, and will never be attained by the “little man.” For those who have given their lives to Christ, the actions of both the individuals who lead in this area and those who follow are beyond ridiculous, for we see these desires as what they are, temporary and fleeting, lasting at best for only a small part of their earthly existence, and then in a few short decades at best, dissolving into the grave.
We see these lives as sad, futile, and because we must live within the construct of it, to a degree, as frustrating, not for our sakes though, but for theirs. We are to love our neighbors, (Matt. 22:39) we are to pray for those who despitefully use us, (Matt. 5:44) because of these reasons here, we know that their time, as all men’s time is, short on this earth. This world, for the time being, belongs to Satan, he is the god of this world, (2 Cor. 4:4) and he it is who will rule it one day completely, but again, only for a very short time. Those who are following him will share that rule, in part, and then will disappear from the scene, even their names will be forgotten. (Eccl. 9:5)
There is one prayer that we offer up to the Lord for the lost, and only one, that the Lord God would be merciful and show them the truth, those prayers are not only given by us, but it is us, the born-again believers, that He uses to answer those prayers, we are the ones that have been sent. My friends, unless you can comprehend the futility of their efforts, unless you can discern the difference between now and eternity, unless you can see them screaming and on fire, you will never pray for them, you will either continue to hate them or desire to be like them, there is no third option.
The finite mind cannot comprehend He who is infinite, those who are bound by time cannot understand eternity, but we can understand death, for it is common to all men. “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?” (1 Cor. 15:55) To the lost, it is not just a hurdle, it is a wall, impenetrable, feared above all other fears, to us, it is but a small passage of time, a moment that separates now from the eternal now, the present from the eternally present. The subject of death is the one topic that puts every person’s existence into perspective, the fear of it will never be assuaged unless two things happen, we contemplate it in depth and often, and we leave it completely in the hands of the Lord God.
Death ends every conversation, it ends all desires and wants, it ends all that a man is and ever will be, but only here. Life will continue forever, the soul never dies, the choice of where that soul resides for all of eternity is entirely up to the One who owns all souls. (Eze. 18:4) He offers you pleasures and joy forever more, or an eternity of eternal suffering, there is no third option.
