More Than Seven Minutes

You have an appointment, in fact, everyone does, most have already met with it, all the rest of us will soon.

I wonder, have you ever considered this, everyday around two hundred thousand people die, now I do not know how many of them are saved, but just for the sake of this letter let’s presume around two hundred of them are. “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” (2 Cor. 5:8) In other words, the moment after you die, you will give your account to the Lord. (Romans 14:12)

“And there shall in no wise enter into it anything that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life,” (Rev. 21:27)

So then, if we use our number of two hundred, which I will not presume to be low or high, God knows, then that means that everyday Jesus has an appointment with all of those people, so (since I have done the math for us) that means even with just that number, each person gets around seven minutes to give their account. Are you starting to understand that the Lord is not constrained by His creation of time or matter?

We cannot comprehend really anything of God, He is so far removed from our deductive minds that it is an impossibility. The Word of God is the most wisdom filled, most knowledgeable, Holy Book ever written, it is inerrant, perfect and without equal, and it is written to children, at best. The Lord was gracious enough to write to us in such a way that our minds could at least begin in the most miniscule ways to understand who He is, and great theologians have, in many cases, completely missed the mark when it comes to comprehending the Scriptures.

Every time we open God’s Word, we should come to it in a humbleness reserved only for the Almighty, with the knowledge that we have no knowledge, willing to be shown the truth, not attempting to dissect it. What the Word of God says, it means, but if we knew that, we would not have thousands, if not more, different religions, would we, we would bow in humility and do no more than seek His face, His will, and ask only to be shown the truths that He has blessed us with.

It is one of my prayers, my requests to the Lord nearly every day, to be shown truth, and I mean it in no disrespectful way when I say this, but if He does not show me His truths, I am never going to learn them, it is that simple.

There is something else here we must realize, “For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.” (Matt. 13:17) God is very picky in whom He shows Himself to, I firmly believe in Hebrews 11:6, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Not just haphazardly, not in a “hit and miss” fashion, but diligently, nothing must matter above our desire to know God. To these He will show the oracles, (Romans 3:2) to these He will reveal His dark sayings, (Prov. 1:6) but you must want them, you must want Him.

My friends, a once a week get together on Sunday morning is not going to accomplish this task, an occasional prayer when in need, a quick glance at the Scriptures occasionally will not lead you to this path, being truly crucified with Christ is only the beginning. It is why we are told to strive for the crowns, to lay no treasure up here on this earth, (Matt. 6:19) the treasures and rewards will not be given to those who do not desire above all to know God, though here again only God knows the heart. (Jer. 17:10)

The purpose of man is to glorify God, we do this by seeking His face, we do this by obeying, and we cannot obey unless we know the truth. You are responsible here, you will give an account there, you will have no viable excuse on that day of your appointment, and I am pretty sure that it is going to last a little longer than seven minutes.

There are several items I would ask you to consider before you click on the Donate button.

1.    Please pray carefully about donating; “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” (2nd Cor. 9:7)

2.    Your first responsibility is to the Lord; “Honor the LORD with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase”: (Prov. 3:9)

3.    You must consider your family after your first responsibility; “But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” (1st Tim. 5:8)

4.    If you determine that you have been blessed by this ministry and decide to donate, please know this, your donations will be accepted with great thanks, and all the glory will go to God.
