There is a television show in which the owner of a business disguises himself and then works at his establishment to gain in-depth knowledge of his employees, because people behave differently when in the presence of authority. Even the blind man, when he is told he is in the vicinity of the king, will alter his demeanor.
“Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver.” (Psalm 50:22)
The perfect example of this, in fact the pinnacle of it, is when the Lord Jesus Christ came to dwell among His creation, hidden in plain sight.
Consider the thought pattern, if you will, of the seed of Abraham in relation to the Almighty, mercy, grace and long suffering yes, but how many times when they disobeyed was His wrath poured out upon them? How many times were His prophets sent to warn them of impending doom that would be poured out upon them if they continued to rebel? And then along comes the Lord Jesus Christ, Savior of the world, meek and lowly, speaking love, not exhibiting divine retribution for great and countless sins.
“He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.” (John 1:10)
When He rode that young foal into Jerusalem that day, what were nearly all the people present looking in anticipation for? Destruction of the oppressors, destroy those who have placed us under their yoke, set us free. They wanted something for themselves, not for the glory of the Living God.
And so, when He left town there was not a great multitude of people following Him, no palm leaves to soften His path, they did not get what they wanted, so they abandoned Him.
“Then cried they all again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas.” (John 18:40a)
Hidden in plain sight.
Israel still waits for their Messiah, one who will destroy their enemies and place them upon the pinnacle of pride, rulers of the world, and the antichrist will fulfill their desires.
We wait for the King of Peace to return, but far too many seem to have forgotten that the God of the Old Testament is the same God of the New Testament.
The King does not change whether He is in your presence or not my friends. The same Living God that went before the armies of Jacob is the same Lord of all that went to that cross. He does not change.
“For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.” (Mal. 3:6)
Most people I believe who profess to serve the Most High refuse to look upon the Lord Jesus Christ as vengeful, full of wrath, a hater of evil, as the One who will come back at the end of the Tribulation period and cast millions into hell. Even John did not want to see Him as such, but he realized these truths when he wrote, “Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” (Rev. 22:20)
No, most want to serve the King of love, not the King of wrath.
Do you know why the last two thousand years or so have been termed the age of grace? Because the wrath of the Almighty is being held in check as He calls out a people for Himself from amongst the Gentiles.
The King my friends is going to take off His disguise, if you will, very soon now, and I fear that many will not recognize Him. John was shown a truth that you would be wise to see as such today.
Only those who have been born again have no condemnation placed upon them today, the rest of the world is in for a big surprise.
He is more than just love.
