“And Moses said unto the LORD, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.” (Exo. 4:10)
When Moses first met the Almighty at that burning bush, he was filled with excuses for why he should not be sent as the Lord’s representative to free the children of bondage.
Though I could be mistaken, I cannot recall one time over the next several decades that he did so again.
Many proofs of the power and Sovereignty of the Lord were revealed to him over those years, great ones that we can only see in our minds, but that initial meeting has made me wonder, how long did the amazement of the burning bush last, how long did it take for him to attempt to stand against the will of God and offer excuses?
“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15)
Are you doing what you have been commanded to do, or are you under the impression that the verse offered and those related to it are not for you, do you have excuses for not seeking the lost that have in your mind turned into what you would consider a viable excuse that the Lord will accept?
The subject has been on my mind for a considerable time now, as I have watched the hearts of many growing cold, as I have watched vainglory take the place of glorifying the Living God, as men become lovers of themselves, yet still profess to have a love for not only the Savior, but their brothers and sisters in Christ.
Again, I ask you, when was the last time a complete stranger brought up the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to you, when was the last time outside of your family in God someone asked you about the condition of your soul?
When was the last time you did so?
“But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.” (Matt. 10:33)
Those who have a heart for Christ have a heart for people, those who have died to self do not concern themselves with embarrassment for His sake, those who are hid in Christ do not hide themselves from the world.
There is a feeling, an almost perceptible knowing even within the wicked of this world that times are changing, that what they call “something” is about to happen. You know what that is, you know what is approaching, you know that the time of the Gentiles, these days of grace are coming to a close. And you know that the wrath of God that will fall upon this planet can be escaped from, just as Noah and his family were, just as Lot and his were.
And you also know these two verses.
“So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.” (Romans 14:12)
“To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,” (Romans 2:7-8)
There will be no excuses accepted. Excuses at the burning bush, but never one ever again.
Again, I repeat myself, for I believe it must be burned into your mind, “I wish I would have” is not only screamed in hell, but spoken in heaven.
It is not your fault if someone goes to hell, it is to your shame if you did not speak to them.
If you did not profess His name, if you are too embarrassed to speak of Him in public, then you will not enter His Kingdom, and you will have at least one thousand years to come up with more excuses, all to no avail.
This cannot be stressed enough, not professing His name is to be embarrassed of Him, and that means this verse is for you. “Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:” (Matt. 25:41)
If the Almighty became angry with Moses, with the excuses he attempted to offer, what makes you think that you are going to be let off the hook? What makes you think that what you believed to have professed in your heart that was never acted upon will be enough for Him to accept you.
“Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.” (Matt. 7:20)
You made a promise to obey Him, are you? Or are you thinking up more excuses?
